Topic: Why is Nintendo not releasing a lot of their first party games on VC?

If you haven't played Devil's World before, prepare to be disappointed. For all those who need more evidence, this game is the ultimate argument against the claim that Miyamoto is a god. And no, that's not a joke about him being a devil because of the game's theme. It's just a terrible, terrible game.

Devil World's OK, but it's obviously a poor-mans Pacman clone.

It's OK to have an opinion. This ain't the Soviet Union you know.

Oy, SOME people really like Devil World! I think it looks cool, and I would very much like it to be released on the VC.

Because they hate you and every other gamer out there, and it's their duty to suck the life out of you and use the pure energy to build their casual gaming empire with their mind-enslaving white box and take over the world.

Or something far less sinister and also far less entertaining.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

Who... and why?

I've heard people say it's okay, but never "I really like it!" It's not the kind of game that people are really enthusiastic about except Nintendo fans who haven't played it.

I seem to recall Sean Aaron really enjoying the game. Obviously, SOMEBODY must think it's good if it has enough following to appear in Brawl and PiCTOBiTS (especially considering that Metroid was suspiciously NOT represented in the latter)! At the very least, it seems to me that they could do worse for a VC release simply because there are crappy games nobody asked for being released (it's been picking up lately, but you get my point).

Everything appeared in Brawl. That isn't an accomplishment at all. If it's a Nintendo game, it's in there.

Now that you mention it, it is odd and sad Metroid isn't in Pictobits. That game has some killer music.

Except StarTropics. I couldn't find a SINGLE reference in the entire game.

Yeah, I heard that in the VC version of StarTropics, they changed the name "yo-yo" into "Star", because of copyright issues, how retarded is that!?

Yeah, it's pretty dumb. Also, in StarTropics 2, they had to remove all instances of the word "Tetrad" due to no longer owning the Tetris licence.

Appearently Nintendo LOVES to remove all of this copyright crap in their classic games, here is brilliant (sarcasm) one, when Wave Race 64 hit VC, I just had to look at what the VC version looks like since Wave Race 64 has the Kawasaki Jet Ski franchise on there, so I noticed that ALL of the banners say Wii and Nintendo DS Lite! And they also have a gray colored Nintendo (which is today's color of Nintendo's logo, but the famous red one still exsists) logo banner too, and of course they have some N64 banners as well.

just popping in to say that "tetrad" stuff is highly unlikely, if not impossible. That's an actual word that's existed for millenia. If it were true that nintendo had the rights to that word, we'd have to remove it from biology books, music theory, etc.

I use the same username on TVTropes and youtube. look me up!

Yea, it's incredibly stupid that a company would change names used in its games to avoid copyright infringement. Nevermind that the names don't affect your enjoyment of the game at all, and stealing intellectual property is still stealing -- no, let's make a fuss about the most insignificant matter we can find instead. Much more fun. Whoo! I mean, seriously, can we find nothing better to complain about, guys? This doesn't make sense at all.

@Wanderlust, they were just playing it safe. It didn't hurt to change it, and it was in reference to what looked very much like a Tetris piece, wasn't it? I never played far into either game, so I don't know.

I didn't know that, that is pretty stupid!

Yeah, they were referred to as "Blocks" real creative...

"You picked up a Block!"

At first, I thought it said that because you didn't know what they were. But it just kept saying blocks....
