"Anime" is not an artstyle, you twats. It's a term that means "Japanese cartoons". You can't say an entire country's production of a particular medium sucks.
(as for why people call it "anime" instead of "Japanese cartoons"? Uh... good question, really. It's really quite silly if you think about it)
It can be a preference, Adamant. Animes have a certain style. They are very different from American cartoons, and that might not click with some people.
No, they're just... cartoons.. from Japan. Do they hate ALL cartoons that aren't American? French cartoons? British cartoons? Italian cartoons? Why does it even matter so much which country they're from?
They are cartoons from Japan Adamant, you're right, but they're different than those Americans are accustomed to. Some people just don't care for them.
Calm down guys, I think a Mario anime could work but 4Kids would get the rights to the English dub and screw it up like they did with Sonic X. Mario needs an anime but then again 4Kids would ruin the English dub. Imagine someone replacing Charles Martinet.
How can it be a "preference" to not stand anything just because it's from one specific country? Do they hate all German novels and Italian music, too?
It's not a preference, it's just blind unsubstantiated hatred.
When the average person thinks of anime they think of the mass-produced crap which is nearly identical in a number of key areas. I guess good anime exists but after having a roommate that blared Dragon Ball all the time I don't have the heart to hunt for it.

a mario anime would be very entertaining and 4kids wouldn't be able to touch it for 2 reasons
1. 4kids was hit hard by the recession, so they're planning to sell out 2. shigeru miyamoto wouldn't let 4kids touch a mario anime because he was very displeased with the live action super mario bros. movie (same reason that no live action zelda movie exists) so he won't let any anime or movie based on his creations go anywhere without his approval
Sounds like a good idea, but I prefer a Super Smash Bros. anime.
That would be horrible. Mindless violence for an entire half hour? No. Games are good.
It worked for Dragon Ball Z and Pokemon. Take those kinds of shows and couple it with all those Nintendo characters the kids like, and Id think we'd have a winner.
@Adamant: personally,i love the DB, DBZ, and DBGT series's. i always have. i think the fighting is cool, and the stories (while predictable) are solid and enjoyable, and they really get you pumped. i have a lot of respect for it, and whenever a good new DBZ game comes out, i buy it. i just do like to joke on it from time to time.
