Nope MM9 is like "Hey gamers we don't like you much, have some poorly designed levels full of death traps, and not fun, then fight some ugly bosses"
To be honest I don't enjoy any of the robot master stages, I've only played up through Wily 2. I don't remember much of the two aside from really not liking them.
Also the removal of the slide was a terrible move, back to generic run and gunning again...
All of which is your opinion. Just because you don't like the game because of "ugly bosses" and "poorly designed levels" doesn't mean someone else wouldn't. (And coming from the person who thinks MM4 is great your comments on MM9 being poor or whatever, doesn't mean much.)
Actually I find it to be one of the best Mega Mans ever made. Great music, great 8 bit graphics, great level design, fun bosses, fun and challenging achievements, DLC is okay, and since I've played this game for 50 hours I think i got my money's worth for it being 1000 Wii Points.
Also if the game included sliding that would've made it too easy.

Go with Mega Man2. It´s the best, hands down. When you´ve completed it you could get MM1, it´s very good despite the high difficulty. MM3 is very good too. Skip MM4 for now,
