Topic: Whats your prefered method of Control in Mario Kart Wii

With the excitement of the upcoming Mario Kart 7 I've recently started playing Mario Kart Wii again.

It got me thinking, on Mario Kart Wii, alot of the fun was trying out the differant control methods, ie:

Remote on its side
Remote in the Wii Wheel
Gamcube Controllers
Wii Remote & Nun-chuck
Classic Controller

Which was your favorite?

Mine was the Wii Remote connected with the nun-chuck, I just found it the most comfortable to use.

I was never a great fan of the Wii Wheel, it was ok for a mess about but could never use it for the more serious and competitive online racing.

Also not to keen on Gamecube controllers either, I think (for me at least) i've gotten used to not having wired controllers so its kind of hard to go back to it, dont like being restricted to how close I have to sit from the console / tv if I dont have to.

moomoo

Gamecube, by far. I can live with the nun-chuck and classic controller, but I can't stand the Wii-Wheel.

Kinda have to go with moomoo here, 'cept I don't bother with the GameCube controller, since the Classic Controller is pretty similar without the restrictive wires. Wii wheel just doesn't work for someone like me, who's used to a controller.

Being that I am an old school Mario Kart player, I just cant see to get use to the Wii Wheel or the Wiimote sideways. I either use the CC or if I have more than two players I use my Wavebird.

@Rated_R_Superstar: You should look into some Wavebird controllers to use on the Wii that will help with the cord problem that GC controllers have.

Yes I supose it would be worth a try, never thought of the wavebird

Wasnt the wavebird the first official wireless controller before they became common practice with the ps360's?

wii wheel. nunchuck isnt that bad, but classic controller(pro) sucks. in my opinion, at least.

I always used to use the wii wheel. Then I figured out the wiimote/nunchuck version and have been using it ever since. I've noticed that I go far less ballistic on turns and your control of the kart is much more smooth/controlled.

I paid good money for those two Wii wheels. You know damn well I'm gonna force myself to use 'em.

Seriously though, I prefer the Wii wheel. It's actually pretty comfortable for me, and since I got it not even 2 weeks after I got my Wii, I wasn't "used" to anything, which made it very easy to adapt. Before that, all I had played was Brawl, Wii Sports, and Wii Play. I got some GameCube controllers the same day, but they were cruddy third party ones. They do work fairly well with Smash Bros for some reason, but anything else that requires swift and even somewhat precise controlling is miserable with it. Never even consider playing Ocarina of Time, Star Fox 64, or DKC2 with these things...
