I'm just wondering are there any games that have come out in 2009 for wii that have impressed anyone....because i don't think i've bought a console game this year other than Punch Out. I may buy the conduit and/or ghostbusters too though. It seems to me that either not a lot of games have come out this year or there are hardly any good games from this year. Please tell me if you think there are any other really good games from this year lol.
Its not really whats out, it`s what is coming out But so far this year I`ve enjoyed: Madworld Punch Out!! NPC Mario Power Tennis and DKJB GTA CT Wars Pokemon Platinum and Eduardo the Samurai Toaster.

@Alexsays Yeah I also love Platinum! As for GTA Chinatown Wars its okay. If you liked the first two on the PSX then you`ll love this entry. But otherwise I prefer GTA IV Now Punch-Out probably is a rent due to the fact it is very short(well it is Punch Out in all).

Chinatown wars on DS is probably my favorite game this year. I'm not a big fan of GTA usually( though i like to mess around on San Andreas now and then). But CTW is really fun and focused with a great graphics engine and loads of races and fun missions. The only thing it lacked was a killer soundtrack, it's ok but theres no licensed stuff. Alexsays- how come you didn't like Madworld? I was gonna get it but would like to hear your critique.
The only game I've yet to try that I think could be good is Excite Bots, but lack of 4P mode makes it hard to want over Super Mario Kart, which I'm expecting on VC this year.
I don't see why anyone would want Punch-Out for longer than a rental period. I thought it was the most shallow game I'd ever played.
See I've never played Grand Theft Auto so I'm not sure if I'll like it or not. Same also goes for Punch Out. lol

The best part and what the game relies on is how much the user enjoys mutilating enemies.
Sticking a street sign through some guy's head and then throwing him into spikes was fun for a while, but after it wore off that was it. That's the game in a nutshell, shoving signs through people and throwing them into things.
The boss fights are okay but it's basically mutilating enemy after enemy and then fighting the boss, which doesn't sound all that bad until you get tired of sign posts, barrels, spikes, etc.
Some people don't get tired of that stuff though, so for them this game is great. It just couldn't hold my attention very long and after a while, sticking signs through people felt like a chore on my way to a boss fight. I didn't even bother to finish the game.
I wish I would have rented the game; I bought it and had to trade it in. Unless you're sure you won't get tired of killing endless amounts of guys while you run around a level, I'd rent the game. Especially since it's only like five hours.
Ahhh thanks. Yeah that does sound like a rental to me. Like you I find mindless repetitive violence boring after a while (even in real life LOL). So it doesn't mix it up with anything else? I'm gonna rent it this week. Thanks for the info.
I don't think I bought anything that came out this year, besides Retro Game Challenge, which I haven't even touched since I beat it. But there's a couple that are on my list:
Resistance: Retribution (PSP) Loco Roco 2 (PSP) Patapon 2 (PSP) Madworld (Wii) GTA: China Town Wars (DS) Knights in the Nightmare (DS) The LEgendary Starfy (DS) Street Fighter IV (Xbox 360) Punch-Out!! (Wii) Grand Slam Tennis (Wii) HOTD: Overkill (Wii) Tiger Woods PGA Tour '10 (Wii) Klonoa (Wii) Rhythm Heaven (DS)
I think that about sums it up lol. Decided to leave out the DL games.
@Alex. At first I thought cratively mutilating goons would be something I'd never grow tired of, but it sounds like it doesn't offer much for $50 (well, due to it's poor sales it's probably cheaper now). I think I'll give it a rent too.
There are some good games out right now but I agree that the best is yet to come. Some of my favorites this year on Wii and DS are: Klonoa, Boom Blox: Bash Party, Punch Out, Excitebots, Madworld, Retro Games Challenge, Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride, Big Bang Mini, The Legendary Starfy, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, Rhythm Heaven, Knights in the Nightmare, GTA: Chinatown Wars, Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure, Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume, Swords & Soldiers and Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2 on PS2. All good stuff to me!
This is the 1st time I agree with Alexsays 100%. From a gameplay standpoint it lacked any form of autolock, making it feel archaic and worse than a lot of lisenced brawlers out there. As for the over-the-top gore, swearing, jokes etc., it wasn't all that funny. If you want to have a laugh at bad guy mutilation, just hunt down a old copy of the movie Toxic Avenger.
On topic: I actually found this year pretty solid. Here are the fun games I've played:
360 Resident Evil 5
DSi GTA:CW Henry Hatsworth MvsDK Art Style: Pictobits
Wii Punch-Out Excitebots Klonoa Boom Blox: Bash Party Final Fantasy IV TAY Deadly Creatures is a pretty good experience as well. Not worth it's original asking price, but decent if you can find it on the cheap.
you guys who've played GTA: Chinatown Wars -- in your opinion, how do you think someone who's never played an entry in the GTA series would like it? would it be worth the purchase?

Also, is COD modern warfare 2 confirmed for wii as well?
No.
Infinity Ward hates the Wii so they wouldn't make a Wii game, and they don't want to see their game dumbed down for the Wii so Activision likely won't hire anyone to port it.
By the time Infinity is finished and if Activision DID hire someone to port the game, Treyarch's next Wii Call of Duty would be ready to come out so there's no point.
Plus Amazon had a listing for it and Infinity and Activision made them take it off. lol

It's a really shame i guess. Why do you think nintendo only made the wii 480p (im not all about graphics but i think infinity ward is), did they not realize the 360 that came out before it and the ps3 had a lot higher graphics standards...

I actually didn't care for Madworld itself, and I find the auto-locking such a pain to deal with I just pretty much gave up with it. Furthermore, it is a very repetitive game, and the constant F-bombs really get annoying (almost close to just turning off the commentators when I bother with it next time).
Speaking of F-bombs, that was another gripe I had with House of the Dead: Overkill. Now, if it wasn't for the very short game play time, I would of got this game, but that and the constant F-bombing killed it for me with the on-rail shooter. No, I am not a wuss when it comes to language, but it is very annoying to keep hearing F-this and F-that.
Only 2009 game, so far, that I am enjoying greatly is Tiger Woods, and I say get it if you want an early chance to try out the Motion Plus, or want an in-depth golf game. I will be renting other titles, hopefully like Grand Slam Tennis, The Conduit, Deadly Creatures (haven't got around to that one), Excitebot, and others. In conclusion, I feel 2009 is a GOOD YEAR for Wii owners.
That's a tough one because I've bought enough stuff this year that I'm not sure what was actually released this year.
I got a ton of downloads and several discs though:
Boom Blox Bash Party Little King's Story Pikmin New Play Control! Deadly Creatures (I definitely thought this was worth launch price) SNK Arcade Classics
Preorders:
The Conduit Williams Pinball Classics
To be purchased:
Tenchu Shadow Assassins The Munchables Dead Space Extraction Arc Rise Fantasia Ghostbusters
I also bought games released last year, so for me many purchases. 2009 is looking far better than last year to me!
