Saw this link from GoNintendo, and thought it was a pretty cool trailer. What do you guys say... any games missing, or games that shouldn't be there? The biggest addition I would've liked to see is Dead Space Extraction.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
I wonder how they decided what games to include, publishers requested? looked on forums? Nintendo channel? Nintendo magic?

I'd guess that the likes of Dead Space Extraction, House of the Dead: Overkill and No More Heroes 2 didn't make the cut as they're just a little bit too graphic; it does, after all, carry a PEGI 16 rating.
Anyway, it looks like a good place to direct anyone who swallows the myth that the Wii isn't for "hardcore" gamers.
Hmm... it's not bad, but they could've done it better. I think what Nintendo need to concentrate on is how the system can entertain EVERYONE.
And when I mean EVERYONE I mean every kind of gamer. Sure they want to show off the games made for gamers, but they shouldn't lose focus on the "everyone" aspect of the system.
This is how I should've done it...
show 1: Show Wii Sports Resort gameplay and cut into a group of people of different sexes, ages, and skill enjoying some sword play action.
show 2: Have a young girl play Cooking Mama World Kitchen along side with her mother.
show 3: Have a young man sitting in an armchair holding a Classic controller pro playing Monster hunter online with his friends talking to them via WiiSpeak, cut between the friends.
show 4: Show a father and son moment as they play PES 2010 together
Show 5: Show a guy wearing 80s or 90s attire playing something on virtual console, like Sonic or Mario world.
That's how I'd do it, mix up the different methods that Nintendo has marketed the Wii before.
@ScepticLemon: I think the trailer is all hardcore titles to counterbalance the slew of casual adverts that already exist. Yours just sounds like another casual advert that briefly mentions "oh btw there's a couple of hardcore games too," so it wouldn't attract many new customers that weren't already swung by the casual ads.
Who is "ScepticLemon btw? lmao joking, I'm joking...
What I'm trying to get around is that Nintendo wants to make the "Everyone" system, Nintendo needs to make adverts that makes that clear, so making an advert casserole dish mix of Casual, Hardcore, Retro and Party games will acknowledge pretty much every consumer rather than a set market. by doing that sure it might make it sound like a Casual ad with Hardcore added in it, looking at it from the other side of the perceptive you can say it's a Hardcore ad with Casual in it too...

See... clever isn't it? heh
Lol reading fail. Sorry, ScepticLime.
If it was a standalone advert and the Wii didn't already have a perceived audience (ie, if this was the Wii's launch), then your ad would be great. But this is 3 years into the Wii's lifespan and people already assume the Wii to be the casual gamer's console because of heavy advertising targeted towards that audience. This new trailer is there to say the Wii has a lot of hardcore stuff too, because those swayed by the casual adverts have already been out and bought one.
An advert's aim is to pull in new as many new consumers as possible. The casual market has been 'done,' so to speak, there's no need to continue producing adverts aimed at that market because the adverts already exist in bulk and a large percentage of the Wii's ownerbase are casual gamers. If they were swayed by those they'd already have one, and if they haven't, those ads are still there to tempt them into it. This ad is made for the hardcore gamers who own other consoles and/or who felt pushed aside by the casual stuff (we all know there were a lot of people who thought it was horrendous that Nintendo were making games like Wii Play and promptly ditched the Wii in favour of a 360), to say "hey look, the Wii has a load of hardcore games you can enjoy too. It's not all Wii Sports Resort." This IS 'Wii for everyone' advertising because it sits along with the casual ads. And look at how the ad has been placed. It's a 5-minute online advert to be posted around gaming communities, rather than being televised. It makes a specific point of not showing people playing the Wii because those watching it have seen that a million times before and already know what the Wiimote does. Instead it goes for a traditional "here's 20 seconds of straight gameplay per game" because that's what a hardcore audience would generally prefer to see, the game itself rather than how it's played.
If Nintendo were going to replace all their adverts and from now on only run this, then it'd be a pretty poor move, and your scattergun-targeting advert would work a lot better. But as the flip side to the casual adverts that already exist, it's about the strongest advertising campaign Nintendo could've done.
Then again I really don't know what Nintendo has televised since I haven't paid too much to television in the last 5 years... But I see what you're getting at, Nintendo needs to post this kind of video not on TV, but on sites like IGN and GameTrailers, show it directly to the audience it's intended to. I get the point now, I honestly thought this was going to be a real TV advert, then again 5 minutes is VERY long for a TV advert...
...Then again it didn't stop Sega from making that 10 minute TV advert back in the day, then again, no internet connection would be able to pull it off in those days... Nintendo Power/Nintendo Magazine System tapes anyone? lmao!
Nintendo's not going to lose that "For Casual" name tag they been Pigon peged for anytime soon. Though you have to admit PS3 is really agressive in its advertizing of move. I think Nintendo have to feel attacked personally by that one since it see's the motion as defining what its all about. And Jerry Lambert making all the girl fighting arm atk in that Sony ad is basicly saying Wii is for your sister.
Wii will have to live with it and just keep pumping out good hardcore games. I think thats all they can really do. Ill be there to buy them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0puP8nrIU8
I'm wondering why the Wii needs a "We haz teh hardcore gamez 2!" trailer.

Well at least it's not like the majority of 360 commercials I've seen...
does his Hollywood announcer voice "Is the Summer! Play as a Bad Marine with no Personalty or emotion as you plow through tan and beige gritty levels of sandy-ness as you dual wield a pair of repeated fire rocket launchers in terrorists balls! Play the amazing "ONE THOUSAND" Player online experience where you can cuss and swear at all day including your own team mates in a bloody shower of Awesomeness! Capture the Flag, Team Death match, you've played them already, BUT NOT LIKE THIS ONE, This time we have.............. More guns!!! and more Maps that look the same!"
