Not happy with the quantity at all. It couldn't have possibly be that hard to release fifty-two titles this year and the no VC weeks were very frustrating and made me question if Nintendo actually cares about the service or just feel like it's an obligation.
That being said, the quality wasn't as bad as we feared, I would say it was generally good, with many good games out of the released coming out on the VC.
Here's to hoping 2011 is a better year. Quantity-wise, you can't get much worse then this year.
It seemed for a while that many publishers just stopped caring about the Virtual Console, not just Nintendo. It would be hard to find more releases if few cared enough to put the games on the VC that they did. Its not about finding games to release, but more about getting publishers to care more.
Nintendo will no doubt see WiiWare releases and VC releases combined and not seperate. A week with three releases is still three releases whether its three WiiWare games or two WiiWare and one VC. I do have to wonder what the 3DS 'virtual handheld' service will do to the amount of games we get released in a week. Perhaps Nintendo see no difference between Wii Virtual Console releases and 3DS 'virtual handheld' releases.
Too much NeoGeo
Not really. There were zero NeoGeo releases at all last year so this year is kind of a catch-up for them. Ten NeoGeo games over two years isn't "too much".
Even though we didn't get as many games as other years, we still got plenty of classics. The best release this year (in my opinion) was Mega Man 4, which has become one of my all-time favorite games.

Not a bad year, really. I have to say there's not too much I'm interested in anymore, tbh. Quantity has been steadily declining, but that's to be expected. It's been a really good year for Neo Geo fans, which is nice to see. It was never that big in the US, so it's great for those with nostalgia or who regretted missing out. That's the awesomeness the VC is for and it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
I am way too lazy to think of something clever. My Backloggery
It would've been better if we got at least one vc game a week, instead of some weeks with nothing but there was still a good amount of quality releases this year. Nine of the 40 games that were released this year in eu, are games that I either have downloaded or plan to download.
Enough Wii games to keep me playing for the next 3 years. not only 2010 is the reason. the other years before it too.
Only 40 VC releases this year? well, i see no real turd. but many amazing games. will keep me trying and playing a big bunch of those from time to time.
They should ask all of the "cult" developers or known developers with cult games to cash in on their classics (most missed out on but some who would love to buy them).
No Alissia Dragoon or even a few N64 Capcom games is pretty saddening for the fans of those games.
You mean Mega Man 64, Resident Evil 2 and Magical Tetris Challenge feat. Micky Mouse. As far as I remember this was CAPCOM's complete line-up for the N64.
Well I finally got a game I was originally waiting for: Mario Party (2) so it wasn't a bad year. I only got 6 games this year and a few were older years games but the quality was still good. The quantity was terrible though. There are still many games I want to see (mainly N64 ones) with 1 or 2 years left of the Wii.

Yes me too :/ I want to see more N64 games Many of the best ones for the N64 will never come like Donkey kong 64, Conqer, banjoo kazooje and so on. But still there are some N64 games which can come ( Pilotwings 64, Mario Party 1+3, and Clayfighter 64 just because its funny xD)
I have mixed feelings about this year. It's nice to see a resurgence in the Neo Geo section, but the Arcade section could really use some more games. Even if we get not much else besides arcade SFII iterations, at least that would be better than nothing.
