Topic: Water Warfare - Raincoat/Hammer Issue + Possible Fix

I know the chances of this actually happening are one in a thousand, but anyway:

Can't Hudson update their servers to increase the respawn delay for raincoats and hammers? I've done some network programming, and that kind of stuff is usually handled via the server. Also, the server has to be generating the maps. Anyway, if the map and items are generated and sent to the clients via the server, all it'd take to fix the item issue (completely remove the hammer and raincoat, or increase the delay) is to update the servers.

However, my understanding is that the Hudson/third-party servers are on Nintendo's super servers (or whatever). Would Nintendo let Hudson update their servers after the game's been released?

Well, if we get enough people to say that would be fine, then maybe. But i have a good idea. If you stay in a place with the item for too long, you get 90% soaked.

@Xkhaoz: That'd be harder to implement than a simple map/variable change. IE:

change:
#define RAINCOAT_RESPAWN 10

to:
#define RAINCOAT_RESPAWN 100

Or just simply delete the raincoats and hammers from the map generation. (though that'd be decidedly unpopular)

I'm sure Hudson has made decent money off of Water Warfare, but enough to make a change? Probably not.

You're probably right, but if they coded the game right it'd be such a simple (and quick) fix.

The Wii just wasn't made for these kind of changes

You're just assuming that it would be a simple fix. What if it's not as easy as you say? Also remember that money rules. If it isn't worth it then they won't do it.

Raincoat campers are annoying, but if your team is in sync it's easy to take them out. If you're alone there are also other stategies to beat a raincoat camper.

Quoted for truth.

While they're at it, Item Switch should be added.
