2009 for the Virtual Console in North America and Europe has come to an close. Some weeks were great, like in December 21th, 2009, but others were terrible like during the two weeks without a VC game. Now that 2009 has unfolded, let's start predicting what games will be made available in 2010. I'll start (Please note this is an prediction for the North American Virtual Console):
Nintendo Entertainment System: 1. Pro Wrestling 2. Mega Man IV 3. Mega Man V 4. Devil World 5. Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom (Correct) 6. Smash Table Tennis 7. Super Pitfall
Sega Master System: 1. Alex Kidd In Shinobi World (Correct) 2. Shinobi

Nintendo 64: 1. Ogre Battle 64 (Correct)
Virtual Console Arcade: 1. Space Invader 2. Bomb Jack 3. Pac Man 4. Donkey Kong 5. Zaxxon
I believe that's fourty-three games. You can make your own predictions and rate other predictions. On top of that, you can predict the region where you live and the region where you don't live in.
What are your predictions for the Virtual Console in 2010?
Earthbound? I doubt it. But maybe Nintendo will run out of games and make extra efforts to put it on the VC along with Zapper games.
I predicted this game for 2010 because for these reasons. Sure it might have legal issues,, but it shouldn't stop Nintendo from trying to put the game on the Virtual Console:
1. Earthbound is an Nintendo Franchise. That means they can do what they want 2. It's one of the most requested titles to put on the Virtual Console. This has been the case for nearly five years and it doesn't look to change. Eventually, if they haven't already, Nintendo will have to put the game on the Virtual Console or if not possible due to legal issues, fix all legal issues. 3. It was mentioned at E3 2005. The other games mentioned are already released, I'm sure they'll eventually put it up on the Virtual Console 4. Earthbound 15th anniversary is in 2010. Enough said. 5. Nintendo of America are actually trying to get the game on the Virtual Console. 6. It has an ESRB rating. Sure it's claimed to be an mistake, but I don't seem them removing it anytime soon. 7. Super Smash Bros. is available on the Virtual Console in all regions except South Korea. Ness is an unlockable character, so this is evidence that Nintendo hasn't gave up on the game VC release.
Unlike many people, I really can see the game getting released. More unlikely titles such as Zombies Ate My Neighbor have already been released on the Virtual Console, so I wouldn't rule the game out anytime soon.
WHat I'd like to see in 2010 is Seiken Dentsu 3 for the SNES on Virtual Console an english version. Secret of Mana has been severally overlooked for all it's glory. They need to stop releasing terrible sequels (I'm looking at you heroes and children of Mana) and get back to the amazing games that these games were. They've done Sin and Punishment translation, why not Secret of Mana 3!!!
But for now... I wait for Ogre Battle 64. And hopefully to be surprised by another game from the past that was amazing.
@Steveman1: I really doubt we're going to be seeing Seiken Dentsu 3 at all. No Japanese RPG/Stragedy game has been release and this will probably be no exception. But it would be great to see it.
I really like your interest in Virtual Console predictions Super Smash Bros. Fan1999! Im pretty satisfied with the games we got now since Super Smash Bros. 64 was released. I want Earthbound released enough said.
I think North America could be getting 56 vc games next year, since North America had weeks with 2 vc games.
Nintendo Entertainment System: 1. Maniac Mansion 2. Pipe Dream 3. Dragon Warrior 4.) Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom 5.) Mega Man 4 6.) Mega Man 5 7.) Journey to Silius 8.) Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom 9.) Mega Man 6
Sega Master System: 1. Alex Kidd In Shinobi World 2. Shinobi 3.) Fantasy Zone 3: The Maze 4.) Black Belt 5.) Astro Warrior
TurboGrafx-16: 1.) Forgotten Worlds 2.) Side Arms 3.) Buster Bros. 4.) Loom 5.) Y’s III: Wanders From Y’s 6.) Exile 7.) Castlevania: Rondo of Blood
Sega Genesis: 1.) Crack Down 2.) Shadow Dancer 3.) Shanghai II: Dragon's Eye 4.) Final Zone 5.) ESWAT: Under Siege 6.) Gaiares 7.) Valis
Super Nintendo Entertainment System: 1.) Final Fight 3 2.) Ghost Patrol 3.) Kirby Super Star 4.) Big Sky Trooper 5.) Soul Blazer 6.) Lufia & The Fortress of Doom 7.) Final Fantasy 4
Commodore 64: 1.) Impossible Mission 2.) Impossible Mission II 3.) International Karate + 4.) Mayhem in Monsterland 5.) Paradroid 6.) Uridium 7.) World Games 8.) Winter Games 9.) Jumpman
Neo Geo: 1.) Iranclad 2.) Fatal Fury Special 3.) World Heroes 2 4.) Art of Fighting 3 5.) Metal Slug X – Neo Geo 6.) Samurai Showdown 3: Blades of Blood 7.) King of Fighters'95
Nintendo 64: 1.) Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber
Virtual Console Arcade:: 1.) Bloody Wolf 2.) Bomb Jack 3.) Zaxxon 4.) Congo Bongo
@StarBoy91: You can try your best. @7th lutz: Fifty-six games does sound realistic and all of them have a good chance of being made available on the Virtual Console.
Okay, SoulBlazer, and MegaMan X, and Kirby Super Star are obvious choices (coming from me). And besides, I love these aforementioned games. And now, for something others wouldn't expect from me:
Arcana
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time
Toy Story (not possible, but it was published by Nintendo, the SNES version)
Wanderers from Ys: Ys III
Rocket Knight Adventures (haven't played, but I want to)
Castlevania Bloodlines (haven't played, but I want to)
I predict the Virtual Console will be abandoned by the end of the year unless they make some drastic changes, such as allowing translations or opening the doors to more N64 games from third parties. And if it is abandoned, maybe we'll see it carried over to the DSi so that it's not all bad news for their press page.
Earthbound and/or Earthbound Zero would certainly be a nice farewell game, too, if they can pull the right strings. EB0 has fewer issues preventing release, though it wouldn't be met with nearly as much excitement as the SNES game -- though I personally would be even more excited for Zero since there's no official Western version of the game right now and I already have Earthbound.
Maybe we'll see Joy Mech Fight, too, translated or not, as if anyone other than me is looking forward to it.
Um... I also predict Mega Man 4-6, Star Fox, and Yoshi's Island. I mean, that's pretty much it really, isn't it?
By the way, Smash Fan, Nintendo World Cup would have to be renamed, obviously, but I don't see why they couldn't rename it. I'd like to see an old school soccer game on VC, myself. Mega Man Soccer would be cool, too.
Good point about EarthBound. If SSB, which features Ness, can be released, so can Earthbound. Remember that EB has been in every SSB game thus far.
Yea, except that it makes no sense whatsoever. Ness is Nintendo property. They can do whatever they want with him. Things you wouldn't even dream of. But the issues presumably holding back the game Earthbound have nothing to do with the character himself but other graphics in the game and sounds.
I'm not saying it won't come out this year or that it won't come out ever -- that's another topic -- but this is absolutely not evidence of anything whatsoever. If it were, we could have just pointed our fingers at Brawl a long time ago and not debated anything all this time. And yet, the Earthbound demo was removed from Brawl in the West, so clearly this is unrelated.
