Topic: UNO online community

So I've been considering downloading the WiiWare version of UNO. The deciding factor in my purchase is how large the active online community is. So can anyone who has the game tell me how the community is for UNO? Is it totally dead or can one find people to play with relatively easily? Thanks to anyone that can help in my decision!

I played it once. Don't buy it, buy a pack of UNO cards.

Really? What is exactly wrong with it? Is it glitchy or broken. Because as long as it works Ok and runs smoothly, I just want it for online play mostly.

yes you can find players easily online.
uno is designed to use wii speak, but nbody seems to use it though.
also, it has a friend code system included.

That's good to know! Are you able to use Wii Speak with anyone or is it only for those you have specifically registered as a friend?

You can only use Wii Speak online with people you have registered as "friends". UNO is the most active online WiiWare game, next to Tetris Party, Dr. Mario & Germ Buster, Excitebike World Challenge and Texas Hold'em Tournament. UNO isn't broken but once there was a glitch where I couldn't get out of the online mode manually. The connection was lost and I couldn't open the Home menu to reset and had to power off the Wii.

UNO has many options and rules to change - you can play MANY different variations of UNO so that's a plus. You can also use your Mii and there are about 20 achievements and backgrounds, card-decks, and music to unlock. It's quite good content for 500 pts.

Personally my favourite card game on the Wii is Texas Hold'em Tournament. (Poker is just much more exciting to me.) UNO got kind of boring after a while.

@SKTTR: Thanks for the in depth break down! Did you say 500 points!? You must not live in the US because here it costs 1000! If it was 500 here I probably would have bought it before even making this thread lol. Well I guess I'll put this one on the "probably will buy in the future" list. Thanks again for the help all!

It looks good on screenshots but plays at about 12fps. Maybe not a big deal but I find it really annoying and it makes it feel like a bad mobile phone port. You also can´t play it like a "blob" in the sofa as it´s only IR controlled. I love the Wii:s IR control but why not make it like MKW or WiiFit where you also can use the wiimote "cross".
I personally don´t have WiiSpeak but UNO WiiWare version apparently have it´s issues with it as you can´t speak to your fellows in the results screen!!!
I´d say 1000 points is way too expensive for this beta version of UNO. Read the NL review of it. I think Sean was way to kind. I have another Gameloft game.... I will never get another.

So it has a sluggish framerate and two very minor issues, and a 6 review score is being way too kind? On top of that, you're now boycotting Gameloft based on this and one other game? That doesn't make sense to me. Sure, they have a mixed record, but many WiiWare publishers do. 7 of Gameloft's 11 WiiWare games have above average scores here, and TV Show King 2 in particular is just fantastic.

but not sure about how many are online to play these days.
back when i first got it, sometimes there were a few people that came and went while a game was on. other times it seemed like you are just playing with the bots. seemed hit or miss.
but it is UNO and you get what you probably expect to get. the 1000 points is questionable, but overall, i'm ok with the purchase.
