After playing for an hour or so, I'm glad I did not get the arcade stick. Playing for awhile I was reminded as to why I don't have many of this type of game. I stink. It's going to take me awhile to get myself up to speed to be any good at this game. On "medium difficulty" (on the star scale) I made it 8 stages into Arcade mode (with Ken the Eagle and Tekkaman). Have no idea if that's good or not, but I'm guessing not. Using the classic controller and the layout is pretty good. They simplified things with the Wiimote and Wiimote+Nunchuck, making (if I read correctly) special moves easier to execute. I may have to give it a try ... since I'm not used to any particular setup, not having played this genre seriously, it may be easy for me to pick up that control scheme.
If anyone wants to whoop my butt (there is an incentive for winning matchups), let me get my Wii back online (changed my WiFi setup) and I'll post my Friend Code.
Personally I think it looks like crap. My son on the other hand will probably want it. I´ll wait and see if he sees an ad somewhere... don´t think so whooahahaa.
@Kid_A Yeah, online was the breaking point for my wallet. (I hear the online is better than Brawl's; no lag, leaderboards, add people without trading friend codes, etc.)
Sweet lord. This just became an insta-buy!

@tails86: I saw your video. After seeing the glorious unboxing, I'm even more psyched about getting the game! I might have to head down to Gamestop here in a few minutes...
If you think New Super Mario Bros. Wii is hard, try Super Mario Bros. 3.

Holy goddamn hell, why does everyone play online like they've been practicing for YEARS? o____o 18 matches, 17 losses and 1 disconnection (would have been a loss) Very, very humbling....
Regardless, it's still a fun game. I hope playing the single player modes will actually teach me something, like winning an online match once every 50 tries.

You're probably playing against the people who imported the Japanese copy. And I'd always recommnd practicing with the Singleplayer mode first before jumping online in a Fighting game. You'll wanna make sure you got a character you know pretty well before you try to make it in the big leagues.

8 stages in on Medium is pretty good actually. It always takes time to learn the moves in a fighting game, unless you're psychic or somethin'.
And here I thought I could be an all-around fighter like in Brawl, but for this game I might just have to stick with a few characters. The worst match by far was against the Lost Planet mech thing, it trapped me a in a corner and did a move over and over again, and I couldn't get out of it. Laaaaaame! Also, I find that if I go up against anyone using Ryu or Ryu and Chun-Li = insta-loss. Oh, oh, and I think in two of the matches I actually got one of the opponent's characters KO'ed!
Sure, go ahead Gameday.

I can't think of a Capcom game where I ever used more than 4 characters. That might might just be me, though. I love Fighting games, but it's rare that I ever get serious enough with 'em that I'll try to get good with every character.
And if he spams you again, try using an assist. That usually works.

Thanks. I have yet to finish the game though. How many forms does that final boss have? I stinks that you don't get to heal up either when it takes a new form. Oh well ... dropping the difficulty down to one star and I'll start from there and work my way up.

G. LIGHTAN (Gold Lightan) Hi all, I grew up in Japan and watched the transformers hack of an anime called Gold Lightan. I believe this game has that huge gold robot dude if im not mistaken and that was Tatsunoko's foot in the transformer market back in the early 80's which didnd do all too well. But I remember when I was in preschool in japan, I use to make them with paper and scotch tape. You know why that cartoon never made it state side? Cause the robots transformed into cigarette lighters! Gold Lightan! japanese are crazy marketing a cartoon to kids glorifying smoking .. haha bet you guys never knew that! Its like if they came out with a cartoon here called Zippo Fighters Ill leave you all with this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3P_cPb980k0
