Just got it. They fixed the frame rate so it runs pretty smoothly. The soundtrack overpowers some of the voices at times though, so you may want to turn on the text.
Fixed the frame rate? That's great to here. How fluid is the gameplay?
From what I have played, pretty solid. There's no stuttering while the character moves, and the frame rate does not dip when the characters are on sea. It does pause when the game transitions to a cutscene but it is a short pause. I would have played more but I've been packing for College, and also playing Phantasy Star and Ninja Combat.
I think IGN just likes to give bad reviews to anything that isn't on the cutting edge of technology. You know the saying... You can't spell Ignorant without IGN.

I don't think the review was too negative. I get the feeling this game was liked by the reviewer/s. (I wonder how they co-reviewed. Be nice to know whos opinion was what. Also, I wonder why they did it that way? )
It runs much smoother than the first, although, as others mentioned, it's crucial that you turn down the music volume, which is bizarrely loud with respect to the voices when the game starts.
However, the actual game itself disappointed me this time. I found episode 1 to be far more entertaining, with better puzzles, locations, and humor across the board. This one felt rather short and pointless, with no single memorable sequence like the capture by DeSinge in the first episode. I hope they next one improves and provides an experience on part with the first.

I agree episode 2 wasn't as "epic" as episode 1 but I still enjoyed it and plan to buy episode 3. But I did run into a couple of problems. First, the game locked up once and I had to press and hold the power button on the console to shut the Wii off. Second, everything became unclickable once and I had to save and reload the game to continue. So the engine definitely needs some debugging.
Fun but definitely not without flaws. And probably worth more like $8 per episode.
To be honest, I'll find it very hard for Telltale to top Marquis de Singe. His introduction as a side-villain was stellar! I'm glad they didn't brush him off completely in this episode but he could've been explored a bit more. But the small appearance he did make makes me wonder about something....
LeChuck was great in this episode, BTW.
What did you guys think of the pirates? And the running gag with the Pyrite Parrot?

I agree with everything you said KS8, especially about LeChuck, I really dig this Nice guy human form they have going on with him. I don't know if I want him to turn back to normal or not. He kinda reminds me of how they portray Aquaman on Batman:The Brave and The Bold.
As for the Pirates, They're okay, even though they all look the same.
