I still can't do more than one in succession to this day. I never beat the game. Dumb wall jumps, the action I always did I thought should make me wall jump...never did though. Got frustrated, gave up, and never looked back.

I think if I remember vaguely I was in some long shaft in Norfair trying to wall jump my way back up for some reason because I had no idea what else I was suppose to do. I just got the hi-jump boots and I think I read somewhere I was suppose to fight a boss named Kraid in the the room next to the elevator, but when I went in there he didn't react or anything. And I got stuck and gave up.

i love em. they're still useful even after the space jump since it's faster to climb up the wall than float up through the air. the feeling of empowerment you get once you're able to reach any area with wall jumps is a huge part of the fun for me.
@romulux: I love the feeling of pulling off a successful wall jump as well (especially when grabbing an early expansion in Crateria [the one close to Spore Spawn that requires the grapple beam])...
@Link-Hero: Hmm, so you're saying that you can use an even more challenging method to escape that long tunnel as opposed to the one you're supposed to use?
(Seriously, though, I suck at bomb jumping.)
"Don't make enemies, they'll stab your heart; don't make friends, they'll stab your back. Including me, including you, all men are trash. Don't love; don't be loved. Have nothing to do with other; live in isolation."
Also, you don't need reflexes to do the wall jump, just timing. Wall jumps are easy - touch the wall, then turn, then immediately jump. So, not at the same time, but about 0.25 seconds later.
Edit: The room that was posted with the green dudes is the only room in the entire game that requires wall jumping or bomb jumping, and that room is not even required.
Another possible spot: This room requires a shinespark, not a wall jump.
Edit: Actually when you say "Kraid didn't react," it sounds like you believe that the room right next to the elevator contains Kraid. It actually just contains the entrance to Kraid's Lair. http://www.metroid2002.com/3/speed_tricks_early_kraid.mp4

Hmmm, nope not that one either, there are no little brick things to jump to and it has two doors in it on either side of the base. To the right is an elevator I believe.
Where are you guys getting these screen grabs of the levels? Maybe if I post it I can get some help.

it shows a lot of data found on the cartridge that wasn't included in the game, and some of it is really cool. like reflectors that would bounce your shots and missiles around corners:
and even a mini crocomire
also, at one time crateria and brinstar may have looked like this:

I've had to search pretty hard to find these screen grabs. There used to be screenshot maps of the entire game floating about but most of the links I've found are broken. I think you mean this room.
Go to the right to the elevator room. Blast through the bottom-most section of the right wall. In the next room, Jump to the upper-right corner and keep walking. Now you will be in Kraid's Lair. There are two tricky spots here. Morph ball bomb. I think bombs or regular shots work here.
Edit: Yes, this has to be right. On your first visit to Norfair, you can only get Hi-Jump boots. All other rooms prevent access be requiring either the speed boster or the Varia Suit. Defeating Kraid yields the Varia Suit. After you follow the above steps to find and defeat Kraid, head back to Norfair and explore your new options.
1:09/40% is my new record. No grappling beam, no spring ball, no X-Ray visor, 70 missiles, 20 super missiles, 10 power bombs. Beat that, Adam!
I still can't beat Draygon quickly on this type of run. I think the battle lasted about 6 minutes, but I'm not sure. Took out Ridley and MB the easy way, skipped Spore Spawn.
