I still maintain that SNES Super Street Fighter II is a better game than SNES Street Fighter Alpha 2. I doubt the loading times will be removed but if they are then it would probably be better but not by much. Alpha 2 may look nicer and have more characters but the overall quality is still lower IMO.
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
After watching the video that Adam posted, I may get the VC version of Street Fighter Alpha 2 after all. It looks pretty darn good and I have never played any of the Alpha games before. This seems like a good place to start.

I was wondering about this. Does anyone else have an opinion on which of these games is better? Does SSF2 have any characters that didn't make it into SF Alpha 2?
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

More than half the cast -- E. Honda, Blanka, Guile, Balrog, Vega, Cammy, Dee-Jay, T. Hawk and Fei-Long did not appear in Alpha 2. Charlie is basically a Guile clone though.
So which characters does Alpha 2 have that aren't in SSF2?

Final Fight and Street Fighter characters, here is a list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_Fighter_Alpha_2 I'll stick with the Saturn / Dreamcast ports for playing the Alpha / Zero games. Looking at the SNES videos, I'm inclined to agree with Bass. I prefer SF2 to Alpha generally though...
So which characters does Alpha 2 have that aren't in SSF2?
Adon, Akuma, Birdie, Charlie, Dan, Gen, Guy, Rolento, Rose, Sakura and Sodom (who's renamed "Katana" in this version since Nintendo doesn't like sodomizing)
There is an awkward three second pause after each time the announcer says FIGHT to start a round, but all in all, the load time is about the same as the PSOne version of Alpha 1 (never played Alpha 2 before), just with the load time poorly placed so that it makes it hard to begin the match with a special move. Anyone concerned with this being an inferior version of the game really should stop worrying. It plays just fine, great actually.
And while Nintendo may get some negative attention for its censorship policies, I think not having a character named Sodom makes it all the better, not because it's offensive, but because it's a ridiculous, ridiculous name, topped only by Hoar from Masters of Terriyaki (yes, I know it's not the real name for the game, but I prefer my version).
I know the reason. I just covered that. But I don't find it annoying at all. It lasts all of three seconds, and the Playstation version of Alpha 1 is no faster, it just fortunately loads before saying FIGHT. Obviously it isn't ideal, but I don't see how it could bother anyone.
I was going to buy this game before I realized there was a SFA collection on the PS2. 10 dollars on Amazon right now. I think I'll just buy it, 2 dollars more for 4 more games, plus a better version of SFA2
Has anyone bought it yet who can confirm that the load time is still there on the VC version? I would think the load time was slow because of the limitations of the snes hardware. The game looks good even compared to the arcade...the sound is different of course.....I will end up getting it I'm sure.
The load time is the same. This is emulation. The Wii, in essence, pretends the game is being run through an SNES, meaning all the same limitations apply. I've been playing it on VC for quite a bit.
The load time is there, and yes, it makes it difficult (but not impossible) to start the round with a special move, but that is the only minor complaint I could have. The load time looks weird, but you get used to it very quickly. If you can't wait 3 seconds before a round, all I can say is don't bother ever buying a retail game because load times aren't a thing of the past.
The Alpha series is interesting. I can't say I prefer it to the SFII series, but they are close, and it's worth having one entry from both series on your Wii.
I'm not trying to compare it to the PlayStation version of SF Alpha. I only want one Street Fighter game, so I'm asking if I should get this game or Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers.

The thread doesn't revolve around you; we weren't discussing your request for shopping tips. But since you brought it up again, it's hard to say. I would guess most would like SSFII more, but they're just different. SFA2 is faster with two turbo options and has a counter system in addition to super moves. Personally, I would suggest getting SFA2 and waiting in hopes of SSFII Turbo. But if you insist on getting only one Street Fighter ever and getting it now, I'd probably go with SSFII unless you especially prefer faster fighters.
