Hello there, I just bough Spectrobes for the Wii and I'm quite surprised! The shortest description that I could find is Kingdom Hearts meets Pokemon. The game is from Buena Vista so the battles have some similarities. You have the control of the kid while one Spectrobe fights on your side. In any time you hit the A button and the kid will attack if you swing the Wii remote fowards the Spectrobe will attack. This feature is really cool because this way you can make your character and the Spectrobe attacking at the same time. The fights are quick and dinamic without loading times. Also in real time and you just have 1 Spectrobe fighting with you but you can change the monster when you want (With the Z button) for any of the other 5 that you can store on your mission. There more than 100 Spectrobes so it could be quite long.

The game is not spectacular but it looks really nice, clean and colorful are probably the best adjectives. The sound and music is quite good too, there are more voices that I would expect . Still some scenes with some text but at least there voices not just in the video scenes.

About the Wi-Fi features, I'm kind of early on the story mode I cannot use it yet, but it has online leaderboards. The original part is the game have 2 different kind of leaderboards: One for the battle parts and other one for the people who like search for Spectrobes.

The game also has a good co-op game. I just tried one time so I'm not an expert yet but I check the basis: you have the guy or girl your friend has the Spectrobe.

The game is not really a Pokemon game. The battles are on real time so the dinamic changes completely. As I said before the battle moments are more Kingdom Hearts style, while the searching hunting has more common points with Pokemon. On the other side, with the "collect them all" attitude I have the sensation that "Spectrobes Origins" is what Pokemon for the Wii should have been: A good game for everyone, funny and original. Not perfect but well polished. The game target are obviously teen but this time, finally that it's not another way to say "bad game". If you want a nice and funny game for your Wii, give this game chance, it could surprise you.

I'm in the Usa so I just don't I know if this game is released or not in another countries (sorry about that).

Thanks and if you have any question I will do my best to answer it. About the grammar sorry about that, I'm international student living in the Usa and I'm just here for 2 years so my grammar is far away for been perfect. Either way any kind of correction will be welcome.

Oh, sorry about being the grammar king. Um... How good is the excavating minigame?

No, no, thank you for correcting me. Sometimes people are worried of been rude and they don't tell me what I spelled wrong and I feel kind of silly when I realize I've been spelling wrong a word for 2 years hehehe. The excavation mini game is brilliant. This time the fossils are 3D so you will have to do 360 degrees rotation to clean it completely. There are 6 tools:
1) Bombs: to blow up the external area.
2) Laser: Really Strong but perfect for the corners of the cube.
3) Scan: It does kind of X-ray so you can see where is the spectrobe and how big it is.
4) Hammer: The same that the ones from DS.
5) Drill: Same as DS.
6) Blow: The same function but this tune you have to point the screen and press (A) instead of using the mic of the DS.

It takes around 3-4 minutes to clean it so it's a bit more challenging that the cleaning of the DS. On the other side instead of using the mic for waking up the Spectrobe you have to repeat an easy sequence of 4 notes with the movement of the Nunchuk and Wii remote.

I are very confused. I'll probably wait for my B-day to get it... Maybe I'll buy it with my TV in October.

@emiru69: Thank you for the information about Spectrobes. I was kind of curious about this game but I don't know anyone who bought it. I might check it out because it sounds interesting. I hope that we can see a review of this game here on Nintendo Life.(hint, hint)

So there's no online play? I could've sworn there was.
And as I saw Spectrobes: Origin come along, I could tell it was shaping up quite nicely despite the fact that I never touched the DS counterparts.

I am gladly surprise with this game, specially after the disappointment of the last Pokemon on the Wii. I never understand why Nintendo was not been able to adapt Pokemon to the Wii.
I was expecting more of the same, but it really improves the DS games. I hope it has a good sales, so far in a couple of days there was a decrease on the quantity of copies available so even though had a really poor promotion I think is going to sell a lot. It's strange not seen more reviews out there, meaning been a Buena Vista game I was expecting more noise.

Well I can tell you that there are online leaderboards but again Spectrobes has a strange way to add options. On the DS games for example, you need an special Cube you been able to use the Wi-Fi maybe it's the same here. The 2 player co-op (offline) is brilliant, it's almost like playing Kingdom Hearts and give the control of Donald for example to a friend. I hope they do more games like this one with more co-op offline. I like online but I don't like sacrificing the single player campaing or the story mode to add a competitive online mode.

They should have made this game a third person shooter with cover aspects like gears (i know, i say that for every third person game other than mario and zelda) would have been amazing! Im not gonna buy this though, not my thing

Well, that's your opinion, personally I'm really tired of shooters. Lately looks like you put marines, guns and online and it's done. Story... eeeeh, well yeah, you are the good guy and you have to kill bad guys.... Wow, that sounds complicated, even Pokemon has a more script than 90% of the shooters out there.

Ive had this in my hands so many times and put it back. I recently bought Blue Dragon Plus and have not been very pleased with it, its not my style of game I guess. Maybe Ill take it back and pick this up. Thanks for the recommendation.

Lol thank you for telling me what my opinion is (i already knew that was my opinion though)

Anyway, to be honest, beat em ups have also been drained of life too (another opinion just to let u know)

Finally, the wii has only 2 third person shooters: Ghostbusters and Bwii, and Bwii is the only serious to the name TPS, so i guess on wii we dont really have a lot of third person shooters (just informing you that this is also an opinion )
