I doubt it would include lock-on though (or at least yet)

Well, the XBLA version has emulated the lock on...

This is good to know I've been waiting for this game. Of course I knew it would arrive eventually but I was worried about the lock-on feature so confirmation that it will be included is fantastic.

I already have this game. I got a really good deal because it came with about 10 other Sega games and it was only like $10!

Currently Playing: Pikmin 3 and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Recently Beat: Wind Waker HD, Mario 3D World, and A Link between Worlds

Great News, especially the Lock-on feature, this has been one of most anticipated releases since the launch of the VC, can't wait for this to hit Europe.

WoooWooo.
O love this game, and i really wanted this on VC!
Finally it's comming

That was a brillant move for SEGA to include lock-on.

Also, more proof that Lock-On is indeed included (check out the last line in the paragraph): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_%26_Knuckles#Lock-on_techn...

While this is already proved, wikipedia is not a place of 100% trust, anyone can edit it, so it can't be used as a proof.
If some one wanted could post there that you could use the lock-on features of S&K in Super Mario World, to play it SMW as Sonic.

Confirmnation of lock-on is fantastic. It was my 6th most anticapated game without lock-on function. Now it's my 4th most anticapated. Thanks Sega!

BTW, do you need all three classic Sonic game to perform the lock-on?

No, you need the game you're going to lock-on with. Locking on with Sonic 1 gives you "Blue Sphere", a "collection" of stages based on the bonus levels from Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles (the levels are made using building blocks, so there's over a million unique levels included), Locking on with Sonic 2 allows you to play through the Sonic 2 levels as Knuckles, and locking on with Sonic 3 gives you "Sonic 3 & Knuckles", a mix of the two games with knuckles playable in all the stages, new gameplay elements (Hyper Sonic and Hyper Knuckles forms!!), a complete story and a bunch of other stuff

@Adamant: So you're saying in the VC version, I only need one of those games to perform an lock-on with Sonic & Knuckles?

Probably the one Sonic game I liked more than Sonic 3, but less than Sonic 2. It's fun to control Sonic, but it's more fun to take control of Knuckles! I enjoyed it in Sonic Mega Collection (GC, 2002), but I'm not sure they'll include lock-on. Maybe we'll witness Sonic 2 & Knuckles and Sonic 3 & Knuckles someday. maybe!

To each their own

It's the same as the original Mega Drive.
If you want to play "Sonic 3 & Knuckles" you need: Sonic & Knuckles + Sonic 3 Only
If you want to play "Knuckles in Sonic 2" you need: Sonic & Knuckles + Sonic 2 Only
If you want to play the complete version of the "Blue Spheres" you need: Sonic & Knuckles + Sonic 1.
So if you want all the locked-on games, you need Sonic 1,2 and 3. But if your interested only one of them of course you only need respective one that you need to play it.

( i give you an advice, if you want to play both Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles, wait for the "Sonic 3 & Knuckles" before start Sonic 3, it's way better locked-on in Sonic & Knuckles.)

This could only mean that a release in other regions could be coming soon I hope. I think they will inlcude a special menu on the VC version to access all three games instead of taking up three seperate Wii Channels
