Madworld just didn't do it for me. It's not a bad game at all, but I just thought it was too repetitive. Like Mariofanatic said, I really love NMH, and that's pretty repetitive, but maybe I like it's humor a bit more. The art in Madworld is amazing, i'd love to see an action-adventure or mystery game done with that look.

Objection

I played a friend's copy and it was pretty good until the haunted castle level. I lost all interest as I got ganked by Death over and over. I have to say, the in-game announcers are annoying as hell and not really funny.

Its not the best beat 'em up out there, and I can imagine I'd be alittle pissed if I spent more than $20 on it. But I got it for only $10, brand new, and its a great game to play in short burst.

.... or something like that.

I got stuck like in the second little section (like seriously 5 minutes into playing it) and it was just an unending loop of the same four bad guys. I'm sure I was supposed to do something to get out, but I couldn't figure it out.

I loved MadWorld I got it for $30 a couple months after it came out and thought WOW. I do how ever prefer NMH over this but I do want a sequel to this, Just Maybe Make more items and dont have redesigns of certain Items (Knight Helmet and Pumpkin)

I got bored trying to beat the second boss. He kept chopping me to bits. Looks very cool though.

Ha! I did the same thing last night on that level. The trick was to just go up the stairs. Felt a little silly after that

I guess maybe the problem is the expectations people have, I mean, its a very simplistic beat-em-up, of course it gets repetitive, but so does No More Heroes... in Madword the boss fights, characters and style is just as good , so...

High expectations for the game or not, the game it's clearly repetitive due because the need of go round in circles beating enemies instead of a much simplier way of "advance and kill" like No More Heroes does.

Easily one of the worst Wii games I've ever played. It gets too repetitive and I honestly didn't have one ounce of fun with it, and I couldnt' stand the annoying announcers OR the music. I remember getting rid of it and I ended up getting No More Heroes instead which was a much more enjoyable experience aside from the torturous Open world city and gruling repetitive jobs

Different strokes, I guess. This has immediately become one of my favorite Wii games. The core mechanics are so enjoyable that I don't find the game to be repetitive in the slightest, especially with all the clever twists and awesome boss fights that each new level brings. It's definitely not for everyone though, and No More Heroes is on my to-play list

Seconded.

I bought Madworld when it dropped down to 20 bucks at Wal-Mart, but I had wanted it for a while. It definitely did not disappoint me. My arms were sore for a few days after playing that game from getting so excited about throwing random guys into spikes, jamming signposts into their heads, and hitting them with blunt objects.

I actually didn't like it at all. I thought it was repetitive and dull, and I felt like I had no motive for my actions - I was just killing and being sadistic for the sake of it. It didn't help that the PAL version was 50Hz only with massive black borders. I ended up trading it in.

the game could have better presentation, very true; like widescreen, progressive scan, and bigger text... thats why we need a SEQUEL!!!!

Never happen. It sold too poorly to do so.

Just for you.

I know people don't like hub worlds much; that's why SMG2 and NMH2 both got rid of theirs, but you don't spend much time driving around Santa Destroy just like you don't spend much time around the Planetary Observatory in SMG. I wouldn't call it torturous. And you only need to play those "grueling repetitive" side jobs once. Am I the only one who made money at K-Entertainment?

Thank you! I had no idea. Is there a door or something? I just couldn't figure it out. And I only paid $3 for mine.

Hub worlds are not bad If they are done right. SMG2 has a Hub world they reduced it because the hub in the first one was not well organized. When you look at games like SM64 the Castle had a bit better of a layout and because it was the first 3d rendered Mario games it got away with a few flaws too.

It really comes down to its purpose and how they do it. If it is solely to get you from point A to point B a map is enough. If you are looking at accessing shops and inventory then a setup where you have a camp may be all you need but for SMG1 it was suppose to give you a sense of exploration and it failed because the returns didn't feel worth the effort. The Castle in SM64 worked because you had a lot of secrets and stages hidden all over the place and some of the rewards you got were worth it. Like the peach stain glass window to the slider level.

I have no problem with hub worlds as long as they are designed properly with the intended purpose in mind.
