yeah, dead space sells for pocket change nowadays, good deal. my only gripe was at first the controls, but you get used to them and while unique, adds to the experience. solid game overall. oh, and all this talk about silent hill makes me want to dl silent hill on ps3, haven't played it since release on PSOne so there's been quite a few years..

Ya, the last time I played Silent Hill was back in the PSOne days shortly after it's release. The game was so different, dark, and unique back in the day and it had such a haunting/unsettling creepy atmosphere and made the Resident Evil franchise a pansy in comparison. The first SH though drove me nuts because it was so confusing since all of the doors looked the same like in the School or the Hospital for example. Yet It had the music, atmosphere and creepy(some of) enemies down pat....but you'll never get me to play that game ever again,.lol

I managed to finish it back in the day and overall I thaught it was good but not great. And really, I have a hard time playing most 3D 32 Bit games nowadays unless they are on the DS.

As far as Silent Hill: SM goes, I'm now in the Warehouse. I wonder how far I actually am in the game now. People keep seeing it's a Six Hour experience.

I played it and completed it in 8 hours. I looked at everything I could, hunted for the hauntings and momentos and phoned all the numbers I could find and on my second playthrough I'm finding different things and little visual and story elements I missed the first time round.

If you're at the warehouse than you're near the mall so about 3/4 of the way through the game.

I'm now at the Mall stuck in some Toy store trying to figure out this Safe Combo.
I guess I'm almost done the game then. Yet I hear there's a Carnival area to go through which I'm guessing is the last.

Well, I finally finished it.
It's a game every Wii owner needs to experience and add to their collection. And I gotta say that was one sad and unexpected ending. I swear I almost felt a turtle tear drop down my toobular green mug

It's amazing how much better this game actually is because of the Wii Controls. Now the flash light controls are wonderful, the interactive Objects and Puzzles(while simplistic for the most part compared to the brilliant stuff seen in Zack & Wiki) are fantastic and immersive because of the Wii Remote. You'll be unzipping jackets, opening cupboards, picking nails out of a window, opening a wallet to pull out a key ect ect, the list goes on and on and it's really fun. Doing this with Dual Analog would in no way be as fun, intuitive OR immersive at all. The same could be said with 'dual analog' flash light controls. This is why the Wii Version trumps the PS2 version...there's no contest. And if I had to play the PS2 version with those controls the game wouldn't come close to being as good as it turned out for the Wii.

Now the graphics are some of the best seen on the Wii, The objects are all highly detailed which will amaze you at times...And the light coming from Harry's flash light looks really good. Shining it on objects and everything else makes the game look even more impressive. yet when you turn off the flashlight, the game doesn't look quite as impressive, I guess the lighting plays a big role in making the game looks beautiful.

But ya, I loved the atmosphere, with the beautiful and eerie snow pouring down from the sky, the dirty grittyness of Indoor areas and those icey creepy Nightmare Worlds. And I really liked those Mangled Surreal tree's which were in the Forest Nightmare as well. The nightmares themselves got even more crazy and intense as you got further in the game. But I gotta say, I'm still very dissapointed about the generic uninspired enemy design and the fact that there is only one type of enemy which is pretty weak...although they do change slightly, more like altered with their skin taking jagged-like shapes. And while running away, knocking over objects and hiding under beds(ect) while trying to find your way to the exit is fresh and fun to the Silent Hill World... At times you'll just be wishing you could pick up a lead Pipe and start attacking....But nope you wont see any of that in this game. It would of been nice, even though in past Silent Hill Games the combat was always slow, clunky and sloppy, but at least it was there.

Also....this game isn't scary, haunting, disturbing or as atmospheric as previous SH outings, like SH1 or SH2(havent played 3 yet) And I'm not sure what to think of the music...It's good at times, while repetitive...but I really hate that Jazzy-type song that plays through out the Mall Overall the music while again good at times comes up or repeats itself in odd moments and their just isn't enough variety. It's effective at times, but can't compete with SH1 and SH2's. The Cellphone was a solid idea as well, and helps to solve puzzles, hear voice mail, messages, your map, static ect ect.

As for the Story, it was great. The Psychiatrist? awesome. The way the characters change, talk or how they look depending on what you choose during the Psyciatrist parts is very unique and cool. And Dahlia is officially the hottest girl of the SH universe And did i mention the voice acting is fantastic in this game?

Anyways SM has laid down some fantastic new ground work for the next Silent Hill game for the Wii if that ever happens.
Which are the Wii IR Controls, Interactive Objects and puzzles. Just bring back the combat, Iconic messed up enemies Silent Hill is known for and a more chilling soundtrack, bring back the red rust, MotionPlus controls and scarier atmosphere....And throw some more horror into it. Remember that Cut Scene where Lisa died/or changed in the first SH? Ya that stuff was top notch, more please

Overall I'd nail Silent Hill Shattered Memories with an 8.5/10

Now If you'll excuse me, I have a date with Mega Man 10

Wow! I'm on my second play through and finding so much has changed. Now I've encountered Cybil much earlier and I'm noticing even rooms have changed since my first playthough. I'm progressing through the game much faster than the first time.

I have no desire to play through it again to see different things and character encounters changes. One time was enough for me, and it was great. Besides I can just youtube the different endings and character encounters ;p

I finished it this weekend - it's fantastic. Not only one of my favourite Wii games but one of my favourite games of all time. It's so immersive and I just love the exploration and story progression without any pointless combat tacked on to make it more like a game.

I have to agree the ending is quite sad. I've posted in threads on these boards about games that made you feel emotional - I've said no game has but I might have to change that after this one. It's just done so well and quite unexpected (my only other experience of Silent Hill is the movie so I was expecting something stupid about witches and what not).

Oh and I'll definately be playing it again - not necessarily to see what's changed, but mainly because I just enjoyed it so much I can't wait to experience it again.

This game is way too creepy for me. I bought it last week and it's one of the most tense and immersive horror games I ever played.
The feeling is like I'm 15 again and playing the very first Resident Evil on PS1 for the first time. I can't handle it, too scary it is.
You never know what's gonna happen next. And the creatures are terrifying!

Where is the fun in that. Actually I'm enjoying a 2nd playthrough, and I'm noticing even the voicemails on my Cellphone change from game to game. Please Climax Studios and Konami, give us a sequel !!!!

Where is the fun in that? Usually there is no fun in beating a game a second time through for me, it depends really. I love re-beating Mega Man or Mario games, or any SideScroller for the most part. Hell, I even beat Resident Evil 4 four times on the Gamecube and 2 times on the Wii. It just really depends on the game and genre I guess. Silent Hill:Shattered Memories is a good game, but i dont feel it's worth experiencing again. But then again at the same time, i don't want my second or third experience getting mashed up with my first. And besides I have too many games to play as seen below hehe.

Castlevania: Rondo of Blood
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz
A Boy & his Blob
Dead Space Extraction
Mega Man & Bass
Super Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door
Pikmin Wii
LostWinds 2
Rage of the Gladiator

I already own most of those, and there are 10 more games that have already been released for the Wii that I need to get and play

I'm enjoying it. In fact my first play through was what I call my truthful play through. Now I'm answering everything the opposite of what I would normally say. Cybil is dressed more seductively and some of the voice mails I get have changed since my first play through. After I finish this a second time I may wait a while to play it again.

I got the game on saturday and had it completed on sunday afternoon.

Didnt find it scary at all to be honest! i found the nightmare zones tedious! lots running around hoping to get to waypoint purely by trail error. I did enjoy however collecting mementos and calling every phone number i could find.

Graphics were great and sound to made experience better.

My biggest gripe with game is short lenght! i would of liked more unlockable content to extent replay value! apart from sum minor endings & course UFO hunt.

Thankful i only payed £22 pound for it which wasnt bad.

My stay at silent hill was peaceful one believe it or not some nice puzzles good story & nice control scheme.

But found out that there was only one thing that scared me the most and that was its short length!!! lol

If we knew how small we were are problems wouldn't seem so BIG!

Only Konami Japan knows how to make brilliant twisted creepy horror games
Shattered Memories was like a trip to disney land compared to SH1-3

I'm excited to see what is next for the Silent Hill series, but a little dissappointed that the music composer for the series has left Konami. That could really effect the seires as it moves forward.

I thought the length was perfect. It's a great game for people who have a busy schedule in their day to day lives, but still want to play games with stories to them. I finished it over two weekends, which I thought was just the right amount of time - it kind of reminded me of the adventure games you got in the mid to late nineties such as the original Resident Evil and Tomb Raider. They're not too short but, if you really wanted to, could finish them in a day or two. That's the right length for me - I mean I've been playing bloody Metroid Prime and a Zelda game for over a year now - they just don't want to end!!!

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories was probably my favorite game that I played last year. I wrote a review for it here: http://www.gameobserver.com/review/inside/all-platforms/silen...

I personally think the short length is justified in that it makes the game much easier to play through multiple times to see what changes occur when you make different choses.

As much as I would love a sequel, Climax would have to come up with something different from the icy dark world in Shattered Memories because of how closely tied it was to the storyline, and revisiting the same angle for another game wouldn't be nearly as effective.
