Topic: Shaun White Snowboarding: World Tour - Impressions & reasons to upgrade

This game is definitely another neglected Wii classic and its saddens me to see it going for only £14.99 at Blockbuster (UK) and £19.99 at Tesco especially considering its only been out for a few weeks. As a fan of the original title I was very surprised by some of the reviews claiming not much had changed between this title and Road Trip, how wrong they are. So I've decided to list some of the major changes I've noticed showing why you should definitely upgrade and support this title:

  • Higher Difficulty (caters for both casual and "core" gamers)
  • Improved graphics (those who enjoyed the graphics of the first title will be impressed by the more polished graphics and locales)
  • Higher quality cut scenes (Ubi seem to have improved their compression skills meaning cut scenes are better)
  • Online Leaderboards (adds replay value to an already long game)
  • Character customisation (Dress up your character and board, not possible in Road Trip)
  • More interesting locations
  • Motion + compatibility (use M+ to create your own tricks and use them in-game)

If those aren't signs of a good, well developed sequel I don't know what is! We need to support this game!

PS I'd also like to hear from Shaun White fans!

Its £11.99 on play.com I think!?

They should've used wiimotionplus in the actual snowboarding gameplay (in action) itself. BUT it sounds a hoot! Unfortunately I have a finite budget and that's been taken up by pre-orders. I've even e-bayed a "cash in on christmas" load of games of mine successfully!

Yeah I'd definitely recommend it, its loads of fun and a title you can play with you HD owning mates without them complaining, I recommend it even if you played the original (think of it as an expansion pack lol especially with the price its going for). So many good Wii game so little cash!

I've got the biggest gaming backlog and that's not even counting the games I wana pick up come 2010!

Before heading out this morning to get the last few presents, I breezed by NL to check some reviews. I've been trying to think of a game for my brother, and this thread reminded me of the fun we had with the first Shaun White. Picked World Tour up for half price, he'll be well happy (as is my wallet).

Thanks Dru.

That's what I'm here for, glad to c Shaun White getting some more love. Hoping to give this game some serious playtime after I reduce my backlog a little. Look forward to seeing you and your bro on the leader boards!

Don't have a balance board but from what I've heard the balance board controls have been tightened up. Custom M+ moves replace your normal moves and are performed in game without the need for M+, does that make sense? I even confused myself then, lol

I would have considered this game, had it had online play. That's why I will not be renting or buying this game. Maybe next year they'll add an proper online.

Cheers for the recommendations. I don't know anyone who's played this and has a bad word to say against i.

To me online wasn't really necessary, It would be good for races but this game is mainly about puling of big tricks and getting the highest score, so rankings just seem like the most intelligent way to go IMO.

Have you played the online for the P60 version its pretty fun. 16 people just throwing snowballs and going down the mountain while listening to Run DMC and MGMT is awesome.

Also is it an Open world environment like the P60 game.

No Ubi went for a completely different style for this game so certain things you mentioned may not translate well to more structured levels and events. But what you described did sound fun!
