Got the game wendsday already , don't know why it was for sale almost a week before release (European). But I really love the game. Ok it's slow it takes almost 2 hours to get in the first battle. But it's great if your a fan anime. Highly recommaned and a nice j-pop soundtrack.

Oh and it was priced only 35 euros which seems a great deal in my opnion. Anyone else already played it.?

I don't think it's out in the US yet, but it's defintely on my list. Always been curious about the series, and i'd certainly like something a little "different" to play.

The Shpydarloggery
She-Ra is awesome. If you believe otherwise, you are clearly wrong.
Urban Champion is GLORIOUS.

I've only watched a little of the Sakura Wars anime. It was a long time ago and I'm not familiar with the characters or story, although I remember it was quite good. Would this appeal to non-fans?

It was a game before it was an anime. I've never experienced the anime or previous games and had no problems getting into it for the preview.

I'll be getting a review copy soon and will be giving it my full attention when it comes in the post!

I got the PS2 version last week, so it should be available (I chose that one, but I think they were supposed to be released simultaneously).

If you love anime, there is no problem of not being familiar with the serie,

Ahh yes, looks like it was released this past week. Another to add to my upcoming game buying binge along with Red Steel 2.

Playing it for review now. No widescreen or 480p support is a bit disappointing, but it's basically a port of a PS2 game that was released in Japan several years ago so I can forgive that; that fact also raises the possibility that earlier games in the series could be ported if this one does well.

Controls are basically a straight port of PS2 controls; as a result you'll want to use the CC/Pro for best performance as some of the adventure sequences have dual-stick motions which are mapped to control stick on Nunchuk and d-pad on remote - motion for remote would have been a lot better as trying to do a full 360 rotation on both stick and d-pad at the same time is pretty much impossible - especially with a time limit!

I've hit a bug using mid-battle save where the transition to boss fight failed on chapter 2 requiring a reset, but that wasn't a big deal since there's frequent save prompts so I just needed to go back to my last save and restart the (short) battle from the beginning.

As far as the game itself goes I'm really enjoying it. I have no idea how long it is, but since I've got a review copy and therefore want to turn the review around for the publisher asap I'll probably get the review up next week, though there's no chance I'll have finished the game. The tactical battles are fun, but mainly it's an adventure/dating sim kind of game with heavy dialogue and story bits that extend into the battles themselves.

It's totally unique and the kind of thing I really never thought I'd see being localised so if you're even remotely interested I'd say pick it up because it's different and fun and the kind of thing I'd love to see more of!
