Give me an example of a Wii game that had DLC. Now give me a reason why DLC should be implemented this late. Also, give me a reason why more content is necessary for a supposedly 50-100 hour game
Samba de amgio, final fantasy my life as a king, monster hunter, rockband, guitar hero.
Go play elder scrolls oblivion, fallout 3, gta 4, mass effect 2, and you'll have your answer.
WAT!
Hey check out my awesome new youtube channel shingi70 where I update weekly on the latest gaming and comic news form a level headed perspective.

Guitar Hero 4, 5, and 6 have supported paid DLC, as have Rock Band 2 and 3. Monster Hunter's "DLC" is probably more like a timed playlist. I think all of that content is on the disc, but is only accessable when Capcom opens the playlist. However, if you want to count that as DLC then you can add Dragon Quest IX and Pokemon to the list (although I do realize that these are both DS titles).

Mega Man 9 and 10, My Life as a King/Darklord, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Monster Hunter, Samba de Amigo
Wow. DLC. That's like, deserving of an entire thread, right? Along with all the other stuff that competing consoles have had for years like demos/trailers?

Actually MHT had no DLC, all the content was on the disc, the quests were just made available by 'event quests' that were cycled every month or so online.

Wii game, not WiiWare game. And as stated before, MHT did not have DLC.
So a music game has DLC. Groundbreaking stuff in 2011 to have it in a game not based around music.

But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
Animal Crossing City Folk is the only game I can think of that actually had DLC. The furniture sent by Nintendo are not preloaded on disc either. There is about 255 empty slots in the game for DLC (items, furniture sets), so it's a decent amount.
Wii is fully capable of DLC which other consoles have (clearly) and surely everyone knows, but no developer bothered with it.
Besides the music games (and few Pay to Play games), ACCF is probably the only game that had DLC in the form of content not already on disc.
The Wii is on it's way out right now, so I don't see a reason why they should prolong Skyward Sword with DLC. Just let the Wii go out with glory, so it can step aside for Wii U, which can and probably will take advantage of DLC for games.

Except Skyward Sword is coming out at least half a year before Wii U.
And I personally would hope Nintendo would be spending that time working on the Wii U Zelda game, instead of tinkering with a game that already can stand on it's own. A couple of new dungeons and items aren't enough to keep me interested for 6 months.

fair enough, but if there are no games being released for 6 months (if NOA is still incompetent), that's worse than a single game taking longer to be released.

That's true. Isn't the Wii already in a drought right now? A little more Skyward Sword might ease the pain in those last few months, but by then, I'm hoping the 3DS will have picked up the ball and kept me entertained.

I kind of hope they don't release DLC. I like my games to be self-contained, although I have bought it on occasion in the past.
My concern would be with the archaic form of DRM that Nintendo uses. DLC's stuck on the console without you being able to make a backup or anything like that. If the console dies in the future, and Nintendo isn't willing/able to replace your DLC, say goodbye to it! (This applies for any downloadable software on the Wii).
I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.
