Topic: racing game question

has there ever been a racing game, where you can design your own tracks, besides excite bike world rally?
cause those monthly competitions over at mario kart make me want to design my own tracks in mario kart.
I mean, how awesome would that be? either this or the abillty to get mario kart map DLC. I would be really fun to have the bouncy shroums as a real level to race against friends.
some new maps would be sooooo cool! do you think this will ever happen. or is this a thing for the next gen consoles?
on a related note, how awesome would a super mario bros d.i.y. like the wario game d.i.y. be?

Plenty of racing games have track editors. Two games that come to mind are The Trackmania series (which is mainly on PC, but has a DS version out and a Wii version in the works) and the ModNation Racers games that are due out for the PS3 and PSP this May. I'm sure there are more out there, though.

imagine a mario kart or a f-zero game with a track editor. that would be all kinds of awesome.

F-Zero X had an expansion for the 64DD that had a track editor.

ah that's cool. did not know that. but not many people had a 64DD, right? I want one for a wii game.
also maybe some new maps. maybe some from double dash. I would really like the map "baby park"

how do the competition extra matches work? are these stages hidden stuff that is already on the disc or are they downloaded on the wii before the competition?

Since you were looking for Wii games, you may not need this info, but Re-volt for PC has a Track Creator.

it's not only about an editor but also about DLC.
I think sega and sonic racing will have DLC at least for xbox and ps3. do you think the wii version will also see some additional tracks and characters?

Diddy Kong Racing DS has one too.
