Secret of Mana; no contest! There's a reason why they say it's one of the best RPG's on the SNES/or VC! I mean I love Secret of Mana!
And I know very little about Pulseman; just because I don't care about it... or if it's like Megaman & (created by one of the Pokemon creators)!

The thing I don't like about Secret of Mana is that I have had to do a lot of level grinding. Most rpgs I just naturally level up as the game unfolds, but in this game I have actually had to spend hours just going back and forth and killing enemies to level up. Like I said before, maybe if I was playing with 2 other people like it was meant to be played I wouldn't need to level grind. But when I'm playing alone, I'm basically playing a game meant for 3 people by myself.

They're so different...I dunno how to compare them. There is definitely grinding, but you don't have to do any extra grinding in my opinion. Just running the game and doing everything as it happens is more than enough--the AIs not THAT bad and you can switch to other characters at will...but Pulseman is really cool in its own right for what it does. If you want sidescrolling action, get Pulse. If you want overhead, longer, not quite as fast action with RPG elements, go for mana...plus isn't it 100 points cheaper?

I'd go with SoM, even though I enjoy P-Man's side-scrolling action more that SoM's slow, shallow hacking-and-slashing. It would last longer than Pulseman's paltry 7-level length, and it would probably be a lot more fun if you can talk some people into playing it with you (never tried the multiplayer myself).

Well, my brother may want to because he's a big zelda fan. This seems kind of like his thing.

SoM using Arcade Stick for first 2 players and Classic for third was complete bliss, the entire way through. My roommate finally admitted, during the Thanatos Fight, that this was probably the only game he could have ever played for this long and that he can understands why it's as popular as it is. This is the same person who dismissed Chrono Trigger as "some sh***** old game" and couldn't make it through Final Fantasy 7 because "the graphics were just too bad", so that's gotta say something about it.

To his credit, he has good taste in current games...just didn't start gaming back in the day so the appeal of that generation of gaming just isn't there for him. But yeah--SoM is a good game, especially multiplayer.

At the risk of sounding like a 23 year old who enjoys spending too much money on games, you could just buy both....

i'll look, at videos of both, the I'll decide. It'd be cool to have a long-lasting rpg that you can play with others.

Well, I think I have decided. I will get both and blow off kirby's adventure and art style orbient. Thanks for the advice, guys!
