Ok, here I am! THought I'd get the ball rolling with a discussion on what you guys think of what we've revealed so far on the Pearl Harbor Trilogy. From a quick Google, I've seen that the general buzz is quite an excited one:)

What would you like to see in the game(s)?

I'd like the graphics to have a toon-shader. Outlines on the airplanes, yknow? Kinda like a comic book style? I think that'd look really cool, and it's a style well-suited to the Wii. (Also, nice new avi, eripmav!)

This has online play, right?

Motion control based around the Wii remote, though I'm thinking held sideways for reduced arm fatigue.

Ooh dude, I can't answer that. Dang;)

Regarding the cel-shading, it's something we're looking into for a future game. Pearl however's going to be more realistic, but it really is looking outstanding. Have a nose at some of the screens on the FanPage, the plane models are ace.

Hadn't heard of it before now, but could be very cool. Hope it leans more toward an "arcade-y" style of gameplay. I'm also curious as to what control scheme(s) it'll use.

The Shpydarloggery
She-Ra is awesome. If you believe otherwise, you are clearly wrong.
Urban Champion is GLORIOUS.

Sorry Sean, didn't see you there! Control schemes are going to be revealed soon. All going well, you shouldn't be disappointed.

I don't understand this complaint, I've played the Kororinpa games for over 150 hours and I've never experienced arm fatigue while playing them. Holding the remote vertically allows you to gauge the tilt angle of the remote far more accurately, from my experience.

I've seen some of the screenies. The planes look ace, but the ground looks kind of bland, to be honest (which is why I thought a toon shader with more vibrant colors would look good).

I'm eager to see some gameplay footage. :3 Hint hint.

That may be, but some people (me) find it a bit awkward for anything but brief stretches of time. Kororinpa and I didn't get on very well for this very reason.

It might be a good idea to incorporate a multiplayer mode (ideally, dogfights) to extend replay value, if at all possible. It might also be a good idea to include missions that focuses on surveillance/stealthiness more so than action to vary the pace a bit. Other missions of different natures (such as parcel deliveries) would also help produce the same result. Online dogfights would be awesome as well!

Could say something similar for Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz.

Ahh but one thing you have to remember is that the game's WiiWare and we're squeezing all we can into a 40MB package but still KEEPING the framerate at 60FP/s. Smooth gameplay that stays that way or adding higher resolution textures for scenery and impacting on the overall feel?

yet another nail in my wallots coffin. poor thing.

I know how you feel vonboysp. There's so many games I'm aching to play..

I'm sure you learned a lot with 3 Musketeers, so I'm hoping they'll be more then one control type.

The obvious ones being nun-chuck+wiimote and Wiimote only.
Motion+ would be a nice addition if it proves to have benefits.
I'm aware you won't announce controls yet.

Game looks really good though for a WiiWare game. lol makes me wonder what the load times will be in this time around.

My biggest issue with using the wiimote like a flight stick is the lack of resistance. Maybe its just being used to playing flight sim games with a standard joy stick, but I like having the controller want to naturally return to neutral when I am not applying force to it. I'll still keep an eye on this, since I have an interest in flight and world war 2 aircraft. And if this game does well, do you think there might be a game or series based around the Battle of Britain? I would love to be able to fly some of the British planes from that time period. (namely the Supermarine Spitfire and the workhorse of the RAF in the early years of the war, the Hawker Hurricane.)

Still good luck with the game and I will be watching with interest. Any idea of what planes will be available to use yet in Pearl Harbor? Or are you not ready to release that info?

1. Classic Control Support
2. On-rail levels, and arena levels (like Star Fox 64 boss battles)
3. Different planes, with different abilities/weapons

i don't know if you saw my comment on the page with the new screens (which look very nice, by the way), but i really think you ought to consider dropping the "Episode 1" tag. i remember you saying previously that each game would be self contained, but the "Episode 1" in the title doesn't give that impression to the average gamer.

the game is looking better and better, however, and if i get the money and the reviews come out positive, i'll probably get it. and i definitely agree on the necessity of variation in a game like this. the genre tends to be very repetitive, so i'd love to see some reconnaissance missions with no combat, some bombing runs, some air-to-ground attack missions, and some insanely hectic dogfights with LOTS of enemies to keep you pulling loops all over the place (it would be especially nice to get those dogfights in squad combat and lone ranger flavors). make it happen , and as always, it's GREAT to see developers on the site!

it might not be realistic, but you should include the kind of motion control used in wii sports resort dogfithing, where you would simple hold the wiimote in the position you want it to move, and then thrust it forward for a speed boost and yank it back to slow down. this kind of control was very accurate, easy to use, and wouldn't tire you out.

Nice feedback chaps, I'll point this out to the powers that be>.<

Hobbes, have a look on the Fanpage. You don't have to sign up to read, you can just have a look. We've unveiled some of the planes on there and even had some help with the paint styling that was used on one of the models of plane from a fan!

Regarding the Battle of Britain query, we're actually seriously considering this if PHT sells well, after all it's the next logical step to take and let's face it, there's no plane like a Spitfire is there?
