Yep.I do agree with most of that to a certain extent. I also think that second hand sales have a big effect on their sales figures. In every game shop I go there are always tons of pre-owned copies of all those games mentioned for dirt cheap. Most likely because ,as the author of the article points out, most of those games were short and quite light in content or just not worth keeping (see:The Conduit). If they actually gave us fully blown games like they do on the other consoles then they may find that the public would lap them up.
Did you keep it though? I thought it was ok but once I'd finished it there was no urge to ever play it again. Pretty average shooter if you ask me, but then if you only own a Wii there is not much choice I suppose.

I haven't finished the campaign, but the online is fun imo.
Yes, I agree with that too. And for all the bleating of Capcom, the Wii title I'm most excited about this year is Monster Hunter 3, which is about as hardcore as games get.
I said it in a post last night and I'll repeat it here:
Rail shooters weren't even that popular when they were popular.
The reason they sold back in the 16 and 32 bit era was the fact that they could release the games for the home that usually cost 1 to 2 dollars to play in the arcade. They were new then and a lot of people bought them because it made more sense to have them at home for the price of 25 games of it at the arcade. Then people realized that while fun in short bursts it wasn't worth having them. There was nothing to them. Most of them were just prettier versions of Hogan's Alley.
The Conduit was a generic FPS with no real hook to it. It was hyped to the moon about changing the way FPS are played and looked at forever. When reviews came in and we found it was nothing that hasn't been done to death since Doom peopole felt let down and told SEGA to take a hike with their wallets.
While I like Madworld, it too was overhyped. It was repetitive and the black and white art style made it hard to see enemies or goals. It was an experiment that failed, but the core ideas can be used in the future. However, with the Japanese mindest of SEGA a failure means that the game and all of it's ideas are done for.
So really, all of this boils down to this: SEGA and Capcom are lazy and they don't care.
I am the one you despise. I am he who says what you really deep down know but are affraid to admit. I am the Anti-Fanboy, the crusader of truth in a world built on your lies.

I'm also excited about MH3(Tri) but it is still going to bomb in the USA, unfortunately. The series was always a niche series outside of Japan and being on the Wii won't do it any favors either.
I was worried it would be another Nintendo bashing article, but so glad I was wrong.
Not to mention I think the editor did an great job on the blog. I love Capcom and Sega, but abandoning core game support just because there light-gun games didn't sell doesn't is bull. They never made this excuse with previous consoles, but now they're doing it at the worst possible time.
House Of The Dead, Darkside Chronicles and Dead Space are all perfectly good games but...none of these games took more than about four hours to complete
This is a part I take an issue with. Extraction is at least 5 hours long,HOTD Overkill is around 7-8 if you do all the Director's Cut levels, and DC is about 6 or 7. Sure, they're not that long, but that's approaching twice as long as stated, without repeating stages.

After a few hours of saying to myself "It's not true, it's not true!", I have to agree. 3rd parties need to give us more than light-gun shooters.

Brilliant. The right article at the right time. It's kind of a bummer for me personally, because I was just about to write an article about this exact same thing for gameobserver, but I can't imagine that I would've done a better job than this. Now if only IGN had published this, then thousands of people would read it and it would get some attention. But because it's on OFM, people will either not know it exists or dismiss it as Nintendo fanboy drivol--a real shame, because it isn't.

Well, of course, for online play. Online multiplayer in the Conduit surpasses Halo or any other FPSes on the other consoles due to the incredible controls that completely blow away dual-analog control.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.
