I want to help but I honestly don't think any online Wii FPS is worth it. If you can find Call of Duty: MWR or WaW for cheap I would say go for those if the Wii versions are your only option.
I have only played the Conduit, but plan to get MWR (preferably when it is cheaper). My guess is that there will be more current players on MWR...whether that says anything. I also have Medal of Honour Heroes 2. It's pretty good too.

Avoid Onslaught, as the number of online players these days is slim. The Conduit I hated myself, but more importantly for you the online gameplay is pretty poor. I've only heard bad things about 007:QOS, but never tried it myself.
In conclusion, go for one of the COD titles (MWR being the better of the two)
The ones I have online right now are The Conduit, Onslaught,Medal of Honor Heroes 2, Call of Duty World at War and Modern Warfare Reflex. Personally I did not like Water Warfare that much so I did not count it. If you are looking for the most robust online shooter on the Wii, I would suggest Modern Warfare Reflex, a lot of players thus far and it includes host migration to take you automatically into another game if the host ends the game. Also Reflex has more maps and more modes to make it last longer than any other shooter on the Wii.
The good thing about World at War is releasing the dogs, it never gets old. It has fewer maps but a lot of perks and guns, also fewer modes. The Conduit is decent but I am still loading into walls on occasion, I feel its best mode is Bounty Hunter.
I quite enjoyed The Conduit online, but it really depends on the number of players and the map. The city ruins level with lots of people is totally chaotic. Bounty Hunter is definitely a nice game mode, I agree Ilikevideogames.
The conduit online works well for me, and there always seem to be a large amount of players online. There seem to be a lot of hackers, or maybe it's just there connection. [watch out for GHOST, and Argorock.]
I personally love the Conduit online. You'll never find shooter controls as good as the Conduit on PS3 or X360.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.
Pretty slim pickings. I have CoD: WaW & MWR, The Conduit and the Wiiware shooters. I was thinking of 007, but I have second thoughts after reading this thread.
Conduit or CoD: MWR. The Conduit hasn't let me down yet and I agree with @Sean Aaron about the city ruins getting hectic with a lot of people. Haven't bought Modern Warfare, but if it's anything like it's HD counterparts, (gameplay-wise) then go for it as well.

The Conduit is terrible, Quantum of Solace is pretty bad, and the Call of Duty's are bad compared to their HD, better online versions.
Try the Medal of Honor games.
Don't compare it to the rest of the series.Just think of the games in series on Nintendo systems and compare it to them.
I've never played the Gamecube ones, or the DS one, but they are both very bad control-wise for FPSs. And I'm not comparing it to the rest of the series, I'm comparing it to the same exact game on a different console.
It's more of a fighting game than a shooter, but Overturn on WiiWare also has some shooter elements in it as well as 4 player online deathmatches. I like it better than Onslaught or Water Warfare.

First of all, I doubt you have played all of those titles. Second, some people actually enjoy the way these games control. It may not beat keyboard + mouse, but it certainly beats dual analogue.

Onslaught was pretty good, but it is dead nowadays.
Water Warfare is alright, but there are plenty of people out there that like to ruin games. The community is pretty small, so theres a good chance that you'll run into one of them many times. (Just avoid the last man standing mode at all costs!)
Quantum of Solace sucks as a singleplayer game, but the multiplayer is alright. I rented it quite a while ago, so I don't know how active it is now, though.

DS controls? Gamecube controls? They certainly do not beat dual analog. Most Gamecube FPS I've played don't even use the C stick as an analog stick. I haven't said anything about Wii controls, so I don't know what else you could be talking about. And what games exactly do you think I haven't played? Quantum of Solace? The Conduit? I currently own Quantum of Solace, and I bought The Conduit a few days after it released. I traded it in a week or two later, though. I have played, but not owned, Call of Duty W@W and MWR on the Wii.
The Game.
Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.
