NyxQuest. Is. Awesome. EDIT: Question: Does the game save when you go through a portal? Because as soon as I entered I was taken to a new place, and was wondering whether that place was the next level, or still part of the first.
Yes, it saves automatically when you finish a level. It will briefly show the new level name in the center of the screen. You can see the levels you've completed by clicking "level" on the right side of the load screen. Each level will be represented by a statue. You can replay a level by activating the switch at the base of the statue.
What, they didn't pan the game for its flying enemies not having better AI? After all, this is 2009 you know... just ask that douchebag Daemon and his 3M review.
Just finished, the game clocked me at 3:17, but I think it is a slow clock, the numbers don't add up to the wii play time. got 16 relics really enjoyed it, right price, right length, great gameplay dynamics, would love to see more games really putting the wiimote through its paces does anyone have a save file with all 20 relics?
Ya, I have a save file with all 20 relics. Took me 6 hours and change. I've always been slower than the other kids.
i agree with Vendetta that LostWinds is better, but I'm afraid I cannot agree about Daemon. He's awesome and has got a sultry voice.
This game is a lot more fast-paced than LostWinds, so if some people didn't like LW or didn't want to play it because it looked too sleepy and boring, then they might still want to consider NyxQuest.

I do think LostWinds is better game, and higher quality. Its being slower-paced is part of why I believe it's better - you can explore the entire realm at your liesure, and when you do, you're rewarded with the thoughtfulness of the developers who made virtually everything interactive, from the smoke in the chimneys and the leaves in the trees, to the water in the stream and the outfits of the characters. A top shelf production all around.
Clicks, if the voice does it for ya, then that's cool. I just knew it couldn't be the capricious inconsistency with which he levels his criticisms. Three Musketeers gets panned for (among other reasons) its pacing guards who don't attack unless you get in their paths, while NyxQuest gets praised despite its enemies who do the exact same thing. So I call him out on that alone.
My favourite animation in LW has to be the one of the woman almost dropping her baby. I just think the graphics in LW are more beautiful as a whole, detailed in the foreground and background, unlike NQ, which is kinda empty. I also like the way the jumping/flying controls work better in LW - using the wiimote pointer rather than just hitting A (though by freeing up the pointer control, NQ did manage to make the platforming more challenging.)
Despite that, they were similar in many respects and so there were flaws shared by both. Both had lovely - but repetitive - music. Both had enemies that were too easy. Both had relics that were not challenging enough. And both had too little variety to their puzzle-platforming.
One thing that NQ did significantly better than LW is give you lots of time to play with all your powers. By the time you get all your powers in LW, the game is pretty much over, yet you really want to mess around with the cape gliding and stuff. Unless you have a long game, power-gaining shouldn't be Metroid-like. It should be Prince of Persia-like (you acquire all your powers within, like, the first 20 minutes.) Unless these newfound powers let you go back and open up entirely new areas, they shouldn't be withheld till late in the game, but should only be withheld so as to make a tutorial that doesn't overwhelm you. Wow this is a long post.
...shows ya how often I frequent IGN. Looking forward to LW2 as much as I am? I don't mind the wait so long as the production is par with the original. I'm curbing my hopes that it'll be that much better - LW was already so good, especially given WiiWare limits.
Glad to hear that. I actually put it down a few days after getting it and haven't felt compelled to pick it up since. But if it's keeping you up this late writing about it, it's gotta be good. 'Cause I'm sure you got options.
