Yeah, I got my copy yesterday and I've noticed something odd, either it's a programming issue or Suda 51 is screwing with my head. But at certain menus in the game, I don't see the cursor. Menus like Changing cloths, buying clothes, exercising Jeanne are a few that I have to guess how many times I press up and down to know what I'm selecting because the blue cursor doesn't appear. Other Menus such as the Map, the Gym, Toliet save, TV, Book Shelf, and Naomi's Lab work fine. Is this a problem with my copy? Or is this effecting other people too?

I'm going to get the game later so I'll check for that.

Ok cool, tell me what happens, I might have to return it.

EDIT: Oh yeah, another thing, try playing the 8-bit Job games, is it me needing glasses, or has someone smeared a thick layer of Vaseline over my TV screen because it's so blury it hurts my eyes!

I can see the little blue blob on the Jeane menu but it's partially cut off at the side. Not tried the jobs yet though.

EDIT: Same with the clothes menu, partially cut off but still there.

What's up with the rating incidentally? The first one was PEGI 16+ and censored, yet I see no PEGI rating AT ALL on this box and a BBFC rating of 15 when it's uncensored - what gives?

Incidentally I have no issue with the censorship of the first game and I like the ash effect. There might be a boss fight or two where it looks like some of the animations in the "cleanup" bit at the end look a little funny, but I think they did a really good (if unnecessary) job of it.

Yer that is weird, especially considering that PEGI is the official ratings board now.... the game may have been rated ages ago though.... I didn't mind the Ash effect in the last one either, thought it fit the aesthetic nicely.

Oh yeah, the games looks a bit smudgy to me but I think that's part of the 8-bitness. Looks more smudgy than say Dark Void Zero though..

Ok, I think I've solved the problem...

It's not the game, it was the TV screen that have. Now the TV I was using at the time was my little 15" VCR Combo that I've had for about 12 years. Thing is the Cathode ray tube inside isn't centred properly, meaning that quite a bit of the left hand of the screen gets cropped out. When I took my Wii downstairs on my 40" HDTV, since there's no CRT, the centred by default, and I noticed that the Cursor will sometimes sit left to the selection rather than highlight it, I have no idea why it's not consistant but hey ho... But now at least I can see what I'm selecting in certain menus, if only all the menus highlighted the selections rather than some design mix bag...

As for the 8-bit Job games... I have no idea why... They look better on my HDTV, conciderring that practically 99.99% of HDTVs have god awful upscalers, this low res game looks better on an HDTV than an SDTV. No idea why, maybe Grasshopper has in mind that almost all their gamers playing the game are going to play it on a Wii with Component cables.

Anyways, Sorry if I might have scared some people out there...

But a word of advise... Don't play this game on a 4:3 SDTV, even if it isn't in HD.

Cool.Sounds like a weird problem with the TV.

Can I just say that the Gym is the most annoying thing in the game! Why is it even in it!? You have to pay and they're the hardest parts of the game! I just spent over 100K trying to get the fourth Attack upgrade because of how infuriating it is, you need perfect timing and if you get hit more than a handful of times you fail and it costs 8K! WTF?

And now I won't even be able to get the next weapon. FFS.

Yeah, the exercise games are tough, but so far I'm enjoying it. Nathan Copeland is damn hard though! I should've played Sweet mode rather than Mild mode.

Well I'm playing Sweet because I'm pretty lame. Although it's been a lot easier than I thought it would be so I might have been okay going for Mild...

It's a pity about the exercise games as well because they're so infuriating whilst the rest of the game is brilliant so I keep coming off the game and then going back on because I want to play the good stuff but get annoyed with the exercising.

Well, I'm on the 4th boss now, and so far I'm enjoying it.

Though to be honest, it isn't any better or any worse than the first game, here's a few points...

As much as I like the New quick map, I do miss exploring Santa Destroy. They should've given you the option for both a Quick Map and able to explore the city.

I noticed that in some of the cutscenes, Travis isn't wearing the same uniform that I've dressed him up into. In the first game the cutscenes were all realtime, meaning that you can have Travis in the cutscenes donning the costume that you've given him, but I noticed durring the cutscene before you fight Macdonald that he was wearing the same clothes thathe started with.

I love the fact you can now swap weapon on the fly durring levels, though it's a bit fiddly and I wouldn't reccomend changing weapons when you're in a fight.

The Jokes and humour are still there, and funny as ever.

Plus BLOOD, in the PAL version! If only we could have a version of NMH1 with the over-exagrated blood in it!

Yes I miss the exploring a bit but even just in the Scorpion catching game the game stutters so it might have been best because of frame rate although in the early cutscenes it seemed to stutter a bit for me. I didn't notice the clothes stuff, I only switched to Old School and then back.

I much prefer the combat in the second game but the story isn't much better or worse, I'd give the edge to the second one so far but both are awesome.

@Lemon: That's because that cutscene didn't use the in game graphics.

Ah ha, that'll explain why it was really muggy looking... You'd think they could've cleaned it up, after all it's on a DVD, they can't be running out of space....

...or could they?

May be a single layer one but I don't think the game is double layered so they could have had room but if they went with a double layer it would have cost them more.

Shame...

Anyway, on to mention different, These bosses are kinda easy... I'm suprised that Nathan Copelan was so hard, and the bosses after that I don't die. I just beat Cloe, pretty crazy boss with as exploding Island.

I'm pretty sure they did it on purpose. It gave it a really cheesy old school anime look.

The retro games are smudgy - like some of the PAL VC PC-Engine stuff they must be filtered.
Though I like this game to play, I think Killer 7 achieved a far more more successful surreal visual style and original approach to gameplay.

Hmm... it doesn't feel like that though, it was grainy in a "Low bit rate" way, rather than Style.

True, but then again we can play PC-Engine/TurboGrafix games in 60hz, unlike the other VC Consoles, apart from Arcade.

Yeah, Killer7 is a really stylised game, I would say the same for No More Heroes 1&2, but I have a feeling that the PAL versions are grainier than the original NTSC versions. Shows you that people can still screw up PAL ports, I'll give a verdict when I pick up my Black US Wii and a copy of the American NMH1.
