Let's face fact, the N64 games are on the VC are the best games period, and I don't mean for their time. Nearly all of them are spectacular, Super Mario 64, Paper Mario Legenda of Zelda: 0oT, Wave Race 64, Majora's Mask, Mario Golf, it's awesome. With the exception of Crus'n USA and Kirby 64, all are near critical acclaim. No why arn't more games brought to the console. Here's a list of all the N64 games that should be on VC, I acknowledge that some games like Banjo Kazooie and GolenEye are no longer property of Nintendo, but there's still a huge library.
Donkey Kong 64 Mario Party, 2, 3 Super Smash Bros. Mortal Kombat 4, Trilogy Bomberman 64 Mario Tennis Harvest Moon 64 All Star Baseball 2000 BattleTanx: Global Assault Tony Hawks Pro Skater, 2, 3 Diddy Kong Racing Doom 64 Excitebike 64 Killer Instict Gold WCW vs nWo Revenge The World Is Not Enough
Yeah, I'm disappointed at the shortage of N64 games too, but you have to admit that that console's library is pretty small to begin with. And with licensing issues and the whole Rare ordeal, it's made even smaller. And Killer Instinct is also a Rare property, so that's out as well. I'm looking forward to my friend giving me his 64 this weekend. There's a lot more good games on the thing than I thought there were.
I'm not sure Diddy Kong Racing could appear on VC as there are Rare characters in the game like Banjo and Conker.
True, but remember they re-released it onthe DS and they replaced Banjo and Konker with Dixie and Tiny Kong.
The only altered content from Nintendo games on VC is the ability to send photos from Pokemon Snap. I think it's unlikely that they will add new characters for a VC release.
Rare seem to have a free reign in releasing games on Nintendo's handhelds but it's quite another matter for the Wii and VC.
Logically, Nintendo would know they they could be making a fortune selling more N64 games on the VC. So, there must be a good reason why they haven't put more games out. It could be that the cost and effort of getting these games to emulate properly is just not worth it to them. Also, they may not want to allocate the manpower for VC when they could focus on Wii and DS games instead.
That said, I do wish they would put out lots more N64 games.

No offense man, but if you can emulate N64 games on a flash drive, you can emulate them on a Wii.
I don't take offense. Do you have a better explanation why they haven't put more games out?
Actually no, it's a complete mystery to me. My guess is reconstruction of N64 games takes longer than reconstructions of NEs games, but between Mario Golf and Majora's Mask, it was a 7 month gap, way too much.
I have another explanation. Initially, this generation's life cycle was expected to be about 5-6 years, but due to the recent economy, it has been extended and is expected to last up to 10 years. Which means Nintendo now has to ration their releases so that they won't run out of stuff for the VC. Baloney? yes, but also true. As for altering content in VC games, even though Nintendo has insisted that they wouldn't change a dang thing, they have made a few small changes in some titles. If I'm not mistaken, all the Kawasaki ads in Wave Race 64 were altered so they could theoretically change the characters in Diddy Kong Racing 64.
@LoppyLuigi. I see your point, but were talking about an N64 library of over 300 games, and not all VC releases have to be gems, cough... Milon's Secret Castle ...cough. And I think you're exaggerating on the 10 year generation thing It'll be about 7-8 according to what I've heard.
I thought it was because Nintendo was worried that if people kept on downloading N64 games they would run out of space and might be reluctant to buy more VC games, therefore making VC short lived. Of course, with the update this doesn't explain why Nintendo are still releasing 64 games very slowly.
I'm not sure Diddy Kong Racing could appear on VC as there are Rare characters in the game like Banjo and Conker.
Mario Tennis is the one for me. The only bad thing about the game is that it introduced us to Waluigi.
Oh, come on! Waluigi is weird granted, yes. But wasn't Mario, a plumber, in 'Mushroom Kingdom' weird enough to start with? I think he is just a extention of the obscureness of the Mario franchise that we have grown to love and enjoy.
Now to stay on topic, I don't think we will see n64 games come out soon. Nintendo will keep us starving for more all throughout the wii's life cycle. Then with their new console will probably release more of the ones we want in 'updated' or 'enhanced' versions imo.
I loved my 64. I was just really getting into video games when it came out, and I just had to have it. And I did. And it was great.
Now with the Wii, I'm really getting in touch with that essence of video games that makes me happy and why I got into it. It does make me a little sad to see the sorry library for the N64 Virtual Console. I'd really love, love, love to see Ogre Battle 64, Doom 64, Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness, and the 64 Harvest Moon is probably my favorite version of the the game.
Harvest Moon and Castlevania and definite possibilities but Doom and Ogre Battle are a bit shady.
That being said, as much as I love it, there's not that many stellar titles on the 64 and I'm sure Nintendo is spacing them out.
