other M and galaxy 2 were both announced at the same time last year, and based off what we know about them, they're both done or very nearly done at this point. so, it sounds totally reasonable to me that they'll wind up being released near the same time this summer. because galaxy 2 is confirmed to be at E3 you can bet it won't come out until after the event, later in june; likewise, because other M is not scheduled to be at E3 it suggests that it'll already be out by that point, releasing in either may or early june.
just a few more months... still no idea of when the hell we'll see zelda, though.
Nintendo wouldn't do something this stupid.... hopefully.
Other M during Summer, and Galaxy 2 around mid-December. I think that'd be a better plan, but ya never know.

Nintendo NEEDS big holiday games. Because they are the only ones who make them for Wii..
I can see this for this coming year : MG2 taking the role of W Resort, Wii Relax (or whatever) being the new Wii Fit + and Zelda being the new New Super Mario.
I highly doubt that Zelda will not be the big November game. Its gonna happen.
I don't see why they would release two big games near one another
i don't know how much overlap there is between metroid and mario fans; it's possible they wouldn't cut into each other much. honestly, how many people here would decline to buy both games if they were released at once? i think 1 or 2 months between the two is fine.

that plan still leaves 2 big titles coming out at the same time (assuming zelda's done in time for christmas). the only way these titles could be spaced would be to put mario in a fall release, meaning that they arbitrarily hold onto a finished game for the better part of a year. again, i don't see people hesitating to buy games this big just because they're within a month or two of each other.
No way Mario Galaxy 2 is not near as exciting as a new Zelda, especially a new concept Zelda.
We all know what MG2 is, none of us have played a Zelda like Zelda Wii. Therefore, that is the holiday game. This aint your dad's Nintendo they HAVE to release this game on time to sustain Wii sales momentum.
Plus ARC and Natal are launching this Christmas - Zelda Wii will be the biggest and best and THE EXCLUSIVE MUST HAVE motion + game of them all. Count on it .....you can put it on the board.....YES! I mean, 3rd parties will not be able to get to ambitious with the unproven Natal and ARC, they have other options and other horses to ride that have proven track records. Nintendo has already established Motion plus and 3rd parties have already established they care not to push themselves with new play inputs - that is Nintendo's job to have all those markets virtually to themselves.
It is all part of Console releases strategy it WILL happen.
well, it is true that a motion+ zelda would kill anything microsoft and sony could possibly offer with their motion control devices. i imagine it would also then crap on the remains.
I don't think Metroid is a Christmas release. The brand is not well recognized by a lof of the people who are casually buying gifts, i.e., mom and dad. Someone looking for a game for a kid would be much more likely to select a new Mario title from a store's "hot" shelf. So if anything, I'd say Galaxy would be delayed. But I'd guess they'll both be out before fall.
If all three come out this year, I see Other M taking the spot that Wii Sports Resort had. Then Galaxy 2 will take NSMBW's spot, while Zelda Wii takes the spot of Spirit Tracks. However, I really don't think Zelda Wii will be out this year, and I find it unlikely they would release a Mario and Zelda for the same console so close.

This is important too. While Zelda is a pretty big name, Mario is even bigger. Everybody knows Mario, which makes it ideal for a holiday release.
@starscream - I don't care who's dad's Nintendo it is, but if it's the Nintendo that released WW missing a dungeon to meet a release date, then I want the old Nintendo back. I don't care when Zelda comes out; I just want it to be as good as it can possibly be.

Before we go on, let's just remember we know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about Metroid: Other M besides the E3 trailer, which didn't say much other than it's going to have a 2010 release date. Mario Galaxy 2 could have a June release date, but I don't really see why they wouldn't just wait until the Holidays since Mario is a more known franchise. I don't see Metroid coming out either because (like I said) we know zip, but nor do I see it coming out in the Winter Barrage since it's not anywhere near Mario in popularity. We'll probably get Galaxy 2 in either June or the Holidays and Metroid in a more September/October release, which would make a perfect gift since my Birthday is in that area of time. :3

i would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that i was right and they were wrong, because i'm good enough, i'm smart enough, and people like me. or hate, now that i think about it it's definitely hate that i'm sensing.
anyway, with that out of the way it definitely sounds like other M will indeed be early june with galaxy 2 in august.

Nintendo has AAA titles stockpiled, that is the point. Honestly, lets see some 'rushed' Nintendo games before you complain about Zelda coming out on time.....
Know what - things were cut out of Ocarina as well - and every other game, and every other game....
But -
Mario is the May release, as I predicted. Wii Relax will be the Wii FIt + game, and Zelda Wii will be the Christmas release,t hese early release dates are confirmation of that as well.
