Peach and Daisy would have been perfect for players three and four. Many female players and PhoenixSage would have liked it.
Damn straight.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
He just told a room full of reporters that the only reason gamers must play as multi-colored versions of Toad instead of Peach or other beloved Mushroom Kingdom characters is because Toad has the same body shape as Mario and it was simply easier for Nintendo to recycle him.
Although I think that Toad should have only been one of the characters isn't having the same body shape as Mario necessary so all the characters play the same.
One Toad is fine and was to be expected. But surely they could have found someone else in the Mario universe who could have been the fourth character that was appropriate enough.
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

While I was kinda disappointed with the inclusion of two toads, it really didn't affect the game that much to me. I don't think people should flip over the fact that one character is repeated

Variety is the spice of life. They could have had four Marios just in different colors if it really didn't matter.
There are already two different colored Marios, and there have been for a long time, so clearly it doesn't matter that much. We could give the two Toads different names if that's all it takes.
I agree with the things IGN said. I just think they exaggerated things a little and made them sound worse then they are. But really, even Nintendo Fanboys should realize that stuff like Wii Music is cheap, loveless, effortless CRAP.
I can't say that I agree with this. Wii Music is definitely not for everyone. It takes a certain kind of person to appreciate it. It's great fun when my friends come over and we wanna goof around on it, but it's also fun to create your own music.

@Adam: no, he didn't mention it. but at the same time, it's received criticism from no one. i guess all i'm saying is i would have preferred (while i don't agree with the sentiment it's the kind of thing i would have expected so it's just for example's sake) something along the lines of, "and yes, while titles from Nintendo's competitors such as God of War Collection are also examples of laziness, adding no new content to old games, Nintendo does this more than anyone else and it's fans eat it up." or something like that. while it still would have irked me, at least he would have been giving a nod to titles from other companies that represent an even lower level of effort.

Well, I agree that it could have been much better written with direct references to other companies and a better explanation of the problem with Nintendo's NPC titles, but I still think the complaint would be valid if he had the writing skill to relate it properly. GoW Collection is a single collection among many new titles while Nintendo released a lot of remakes and barely-sequels over the past year while not releasing a ton of brand new games, at least not that these guys and perhaps their readership cared about.
But whatever, right? We both come to the same conclusion anyway: IGN can't write, and Nintendo's doing a better job than they get credit for now that the long drought of games is coming to an end.

true that.

Ha ha ha well, IGN has been writing Nintendo Bashing articles for 2 years now, if I had a dollar for every time someone wrote an article saying "Wii success is just temporary"... Sales numbers in the Usa for November 2009: Wii sold 1.2 million units, and DS sold 1.7 million. Nintendo isn't perfect and of course made mistakes like everyone else but so far, is doing great. Everyday I have to take the bus a couple of times, and I have seen people of all ages and races playing with their DS. Right, Right, Microsoft and Sony "care" about hardcore gamers. That is why they are planning games like "paint an elephant with your hands" or "talk with your friend Nilo" or "hit balls in the air"... Sure those are hardcore titles - not Metal Gear Solid! I think the labels of casual and hardcore are a load of crap. It is supposed to make you feel superior and to justify being rude and pretentious just because that person plays another "kind" of game. If you really feel you are a better player or a smarter person just because the games you play have the M on the cover, or because it takes hours to understand how the game goes, I just feel sorry for you.
It's increasing in a frightening pace. So far, as of now, there are 1,029 posts on that thread, 90% of which are hating on Nintendo. It's really sad how such an amazing company could receive so much hate and never be forgiven because of E3 2008. I fear for Nintendo's livelihood. Could there demise at the hands of angry former fans come soon? I hope it doesn't happen.
Why are you surprised Nintendo is hated? They're the big dog, and many hate cheering those at top. It happened to Sony in the PS2/PS1 days, and it's Nintendo's turn this gen.

Well it's a "music game" that uses MIDI sound and, except for a few, unlicenced children songs. I mean I saw a few Youtube videos where people made somewhat good music but if you want to create music there are better alternatives (maybe not on the Wii but that doesn't matter) and the mode where you have to press buttons in rythm to the song is a joke. It doesn't even matter wether you press the button at the right time or not since apparently "letting you be creative" means you can just press the buttons at random times and the game doesn't even punish you for it.
But of course if you like it it's ok but I don't think it does have that big of an audience that likes it.
I just think that too many people expected Wii Music to be Nintendo's answer to Guitar Hero and Rock Band, when that's not what the game is at all. It has a mode where you can play it like Guitar Hero, but the mode is rather shallow if played as such, and you will definitely find more enjoyment out of the Guitar Hero games.
Wii Music is here to teach people the principles of music. The game demonstrates why songs are played as they are. It shows the player how to keep on beat, and it explains sections within songs that will differentiate the beat in order to keep the song fresh. It's a great game to teach others about how and why music works the way it does.
I do agree that there are better alternatives to making your own music, but Wii Music is great for what it is, imo. And that's fine with me that you don't like it. I do like it and you don't. =) I just wanted the game to be better understood for what it is.
I'll...pass...on Birdo, but thanks for always thinking of me. I think. Anyways, if given the choice, I'll always take the chance to be a full-fledged human female, soooooooo....yeah.
