I posted a topic a while ago saying why I was looking forward to NFS: Nitro, D-day arrived and I picked it up and I have to say I am not disappointed at all, in fact it far surpassed my expectations! This game is simply awesome and deserves many sequels! I've never really been a big racing fan (even Mario Kart Wii couldn't sway me, sold it recently) but this title has made me fall in love! Here's why:
The customisation is AWESOME! So deep but so easy to use (I could spend hours on it)
Controls are fun responsive and just feel right! (I've not had to change from default controls)
The graphics are great (don't take the videos or picks of this game you need to see it in real-life to fully appreciate how good this game looks)
Loads of fun game modes (my faves are drag race, reminds me of excitebike a bit, speed trap and elimination race) will be coming back to these modes for a long time, very satisfying single player mode.
Brilliant soundtrack, rivals Madworlds in its quality, fits the game perfectly and gets bonus points for having tracks by SWAY, Roots Manuva and The Cool Kids!
I can't recommend this title enough, if your on the fence about buying it and you like arcade racers, pick this up ASAP it deserves a place in your collection! This is what a game built up for the Wii should be like, thank you EA!

I'm totally planning on picking this up and would have today, but the £39.99 retail price put me off since I can get it for £29.99 online. No question it's on my wish list though!
I found interesting that this game was made by EA Montreal while the HD versions were made by Slightly Mad Studios, a quick made up development team. That's why NFS:Switch is full of glitches because it was outsourced by EA.
Is good to see teh Wii being the core version instead of the wattered port. I hope more companies learn to work that way.
I am sooo getting this when it is released in the UK - Ive been reading up on it and I think it seems just my thing for the reasons you said it rocks .

Now I do have a question. Is this game like Most Wanted where the player is allowed to drive around the city, or would I select each race from a menu and then be taken to the race?
I started a thread on this by accident on the other forum (wiiware one, d'oh!) but this thread is a little bit more informative. Anyway, I posted:
"At last it seems we have a decent Need For Speed game on the Wii. The preview on here and the review on ONM seem to suggest its quite good. 80% it recieved. The content of the review was appealing as well. Its a back to roots game with a cartoony style that gives it a lot of character. Again, like Rabbids Go Home (which has recieved good reviews as well), its been made a little "easy" to make it more accessible. I don't care. Like I said on the Rabbids Go Home Reviews thread so are some of the best games on the Nintendo consoles. Think I'll be going for this one.
I've had to finance all this by selling some of my decent games that have diminished replay value.....bring it all on!"
I got this game... I think its a bit overprice for an arcade racer (as Sean suggests) but my first impressions were good. Graphically its rather nice and implements a successful arcade feel to the handling (complete with steering assist if you want). I think EA Montreal did SSX on Tour, which was one of my favourite games on the 'Cube and this has a similar pick up and play quality. In the absence of the truly excellent Outrun 2 on a Nintendo console, this is pretty darn good if you like arcade racing.
@Trevor_Fox - nah, no free roam, you just select different types of 'events' (3 lap races, drag racing, 'style') from a menu and unlock additional cities / events according to your performance, upgrading cars as you go - like Burnout Revenge.
It also has an arcade mode to let you try the super cars / extra tracks from the start.
Got this Yesterday, Im really liking it, I think I need to play it for a few days longer for a totally complete impression. One thing £30 (or there abouts) may be a little steep for an arcade racer like this as said before.
I'd drop £30 for it in the shop in a heartbeat (well, use my trade-in credit); GAME just seems to think that's a top-tier title and therefore deserves the £39.99 tag; frankly I wouldn't pay that for anything that didn't have some kind of peripheral pack-in.
I am not a huge fan of realistic racing games, and had started to grow tired of the NFS franchise, but this whole arcade feel really seems to be tapping into a swag of nostalgic feelings from similar games when I was growing up on the N64. I am definately gonna be taking this one home!
