Shame about the compression and filesize issues. I was hoping for Garou too after the 360 got it. If it'll fit on an SD card then why can't they just release it for like 1000 points or something?

I think the collections are what is hurting the Neo Geo on the VC. I picked up a few recently and I'm happy with the Neo Geo titles I have downloaded so far. We have not had 1 title this year and I think they should at least bring out 1 game.

And lets face it Nintendo does next to nothing to promote VC games, so only fans of the Virtual Console even know whats out.

@For the people who worry about file size limits

Isn't Metal Slug 2 only around 160 or 161 blocks? I don't see the issue with storage. If they can put Metal Slug 2 on the VC, then I don't see how RBS, RBFF, SSIV, KOF '96, Sengoku 3, etc can't fit onto the VC!

I'm not done yet though! Metal Slug 2's original size is 362 mb for the Neo Geo version. The VC version is around 160 blocks, but 1 megabit isn't equal to 1 vc block. The largest NG games are around 708 mb while the Wii shop file size limit is around 340 mb. I know you'll reply to me that 708 mb is larger than 340 mb, that's true, but how can Metal Slug 2 be 362 mb on the original NG version while the VC version is around 160 blocks? I think some of the largest games on Wii shop channel are around 320 blocks big which is double of MS2 vc version's file size. Also, 1 vc block isn't larger than 1 mb & that the NG games that're released earlier had bigger VC block sizes than Metal Slug 2's VC block size so that means that D4 must be getting better in compressing the NG games for the VC.

Could the real reason for the lack of NG games coming to the VC is because of having to compress the later Neo Geo games so that they could be released on VC? Well, it can't be the sole reason, but it could be 1 of the reasons why SNK Playmore has temporarily bailed out from the VC.

True that the Neo Geo is a great system. It's got great games like the Samurai Showdown and the Metal Slug series. I recall that there was one particular NG game that some people wanted, and it still hasn't been released, wasn't it WindJammers or something like that?

Yeah, I think it was Windjammers. I think it has a great chance of coming to the VC once SNK Playmore starts to support VC again

cop that snk arcade classics compilation 15 bucks for 16 games... and yeah the motion controls ruin the Metal Slug Anthology...just like no multi player ruins metal slug 7 (well, its still a great game but COME ON!)

I got the KoF collection on PS2 and it was a terrible port of the Neo Geo games. I'd rather have the actual NeoGeo games on VC than them crappily being ported to a collection.

SNK have been very lazy recently for some reason or have just got some incompetent company to make the collections for them. So yeah, give me the originals any day.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

Running at 50Hz like it does in Europe, any great system becomes a sluggish system (World Heroes should be renamed Underwater Heroes).

So no, I'm not getting any of these, ever. Unless they allow us to use the 60Hz mode, but I don't think they will.

I thought the KoF collection on Wii was excellent Bass X0 -- have you tried that?

With regard to motion control on Metal Slug Anthology I agree that sucks; that's why I play with a Classic Controller linked up to a Classic Linker, which works fine through the Gamecube port.

If you lack this setup, a proper Gamecube controller will also do the job, though the D-Pad on those sucks; hence the Linker.

I have SNK Arcade Classics, and I think it is a great collection. I hope they make a Vol. 2.

i feel that, Bass XO, i mean sure having the OG arcade ports downloaded from the VC would be sick. But i mean, i recently got the SNK Arcade Classics comp and i found them to be excellent ports of the games. It also has some with decent options (i love the ability to turn the music up and the sfx down, the music in Last Resort is so legit) and an award system for each game which is similar to xbox 360's achievement system (with unlockables galore!). I promise its not a bad option for the gamer on a budget!

Is this the same collection that's available for Wii?

Yes. The Wii version is much better.

Does anyone have the Samurai Shodown collection for Wii? If so, are you able to use the classic controller?

And you also get stuck with motion controls that aren't appropriate.

No, you're not, you can use a GC controller.

That's because Neo Geo games have the best 2D graphics of any system of it's time! From 1990 to 2003.
