My Wii was working almost perfectly until tonight. It ran any disk but SSBB (which happens to run on any other Wii I put it in...). The disk drive made a loud, annoying noise, but it worked. Until now, that is. Today I decided I wanted to play SMG2, but the Wii wouldn't start it. Instead, the disk drive would spin, make a few clicks, the stop, with the Wii showing the ? disk on the Disk Channel. I tried again. Same thing. I thought it was just the disk, so I wiped the disk off and tried it again. Still didn't work. Curious, I tried another Wii game. That one didn't work either. That was when I started panicking. I tired 5 disks in total and none of them worked. I used the official Nintendo cleaning kit, and the drive still didn't want to keep spinning my disk. Then I tried a Gamecube disk to see if that worked. It didn't either. My beloved Wii didn't want to run disks anymore. Everything works except disks.
I know what you're thinking: Why don't I call Nintendo Support? I know they can fix up Wiis to be brand new, but there's 2 problems for me: first of all, my Wii is out of warranty. If they do fix it, I'll have to pay something for it, which wouldn't be a problem, if it weren't for problem number 2: I have hacked my Wii. I have only done this to get the Homebrew channel to play homebrew, and have never pirated a single game. I got rid of the Homebrew Channel a long time ago (actually, a System Update got rid of it for me and I haven't been bothered to find a way to install it again...). I heard that Nintendo refuses to fix Wiis that show software or hardware modifications. I'm not sure if there are still traces of the hack on my Wii, but I have modded two (or maybe it was one?) IOS in the system, but disk and system updates seem to have set those IOSs straight. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do for the sake of my Wii...
I'm pretty okay.

Wait, quotes should be meaningful? Ugh, fine.

Unless Nintendo has reduced the cost of out-of-warranty service (which I think is roughly $100...someone correct me if I'm wrong), you might as well buy a new Wii. You can use your old Wii to play your WiiWare and VC games.

I'd rather not go that route unless I absolutely have to. Yeah, I can play my WiiWare and VC with my old one, but I have so much nontransferable save data on my Wii, and I'd rather not lose it, especially since most of those are multiplayer games. It would be terrible to not have Miis unlocked in Mariokart when I want to play with friends, or have the minimum SSBB roster and stage selection when I just want to brawl with friends.
I'm pretty okay.

Actually, you may still want to call them. My Wii had a serious disc problem a few years back as well. Except this problem went deeper and made the Wii freeze regularly no matter what. Well just like you I had also installed the Homebrew channel. Actually, the problems may have been a result of having that software in the first place. Well anyway since Homebrew channel is a soft mod I think deleting the program and save data makes it almost impossible to see if it was ever there in the first place. Oh and yeah, my Wii was also out of warranty. Well, regardless of all of that Nintendo fixed it free of charge and it worked just like new. So yeah, you might as well try. Even if they were to discover the Wii had been hacked after accepting the repair for free, they might just look the other way and fix it anyway. I mean, what are they gonna do? Destroy the system? Worst case scenario, you'll have to pay to get it fixed. I believe they'll fix a hacked console as long as you pay. Just say goodbye to any save data for games with Nintendo WFC components. You cannot copy these saves to SD card for backup and chances are, all your save data will be wiped with a repair. This really sucks for games like Animal Crossing or Super Smash Bros. but its either that or broken Wii.
I remember looking up this error a while back for someone else, and the only solution was to call Nintendo and set up a repair order. I wouldn't bother volunteering any information, just tell 'em your Wii's not working and what it's doing and leave it at that.
if you're that worried that they won't fix it, there are other places that'll do repair work on consoles, but idk how much they'll charge and i can't vouch for their quality of service... not to mention there's no telling whether your wi-fi save data will survive.
either way, you seem to have a decent handle on the options available to you, and we need to get off the topic of softmodding and its quirks, so I'm gonna go ahead and lock this one. good luck to you!
