Topic: My First Wii Repair

Hey guys, today marks a sad day. Today was the day that required I send my Wii, the one I got from launch, into Nintendo for some repairs. I'm not sure of the specifics but I know that when the discs were put in the system they clicked for a few seconds and then stopped. The Wii just didn't read the disc. Well since this is my first time sending in a broken Nintendo product, I was hoping someone could just fill me in on the the average wait and the quality of the work done on the systems.
Thanks

Good day. ... I said Good day

That's bad, hopefully you'll get it back soon. Sorry I don't know a lot about it since I've never had to send something to Nintendo.

I had to send in my Wii three different times in a month. First it stopped reading dual layered discs.
Upon it's return the fan wasn't working so had to send it right back. Then I got that damn graphic Artifacting problem and they finally had to transfer all my VC games to a new system. Broke my heart to have to replace my launch wii but after 3 repair jobs in a month they were tired of messing with it. I haven't had a problem since thankfully.
It usually takes 7 to 10 days to get it repaired and back to your door depending on where you live.
Hope you have some other systems to play while you wait.

@Link79: Did you have to pay the repair fee 3 times, or did you get a warranty after the first repair that covered the next two?

I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.

Nah It was free since the first problem I had was the deal with it not reading dual layered discs.
I guess if that's what's going wrong Nintendo takes the blame and fixes it free.
They figure it's a design flaw and will fix it at no charge. The other two repairs were free also since you get a new one year warranty after every repair. So that worked out well. It was a pain in the ass but I finally have a fully functioning Wii and haven't had an issue since.
