At e3 2010, Nintendo showed us the debut 3ds trailer, and at 1:20 it shows Bowser chasing Mr.Iwata and Shiggy. Could they be using that as the next graphics engine for the next mario game on project cafe? Let's Hope so!!!! Look at how shiny the coins are!!

Er, no thank you. What I want is a new 2D Mario in the vein of NSMBW with super awesome looking textures and amazing water effects. please and thank you nintendo
HD Mario will only add a pretty layer. And will smoothen some things out and make it crisper... But that's about it. So I hope.
Everytime someone says "HD Mario", it urks me to think of Mario looking realistic- with pores and and all that.. stuff. I hope Nintendo doesn't just say "Hey, let's make Mario edgier because that's what the direction this industry is going!"
Mr. Miyamoto will surely prevent such a thing from happening.
But anyhow, a new Mario on their next console is to be expected. All I'm hoping is that it retains the charm of Mario. Something that's stuck with him for the past 26 years.

I'd just like to point out that "HD" does not mean "realistic". If Wind Waker had originally been made for an HD console, the cartoon art style wouldn't make it any less HD than a realistic game on the same system.
Mario HD wouldn't look too different from now, but other games like Zelda would look amazing and benefit from HD sooooo much. Also, I...I hope the graphics to only reach a certain point and then stay there. I really DO NOT want Video games looking exactly like real life....Then it just wouldn't feel right. It would feel kinda awkward. Maybe how Cafe looks should be the most the graphics get but i hope it doesn't go too far after Cafe.
