I had M.U.L.E. on my Atari 800XL and when it came out for the NES,, I got it again (I still have the cart). That game is a classic and I hope they bring the NES version to the VC.

A friend of mine mentioned how good it is. I've yet to play it (I do have the rom, but I can't be bothered to play it), but I do know that it's a renowned but long forgotten multiplayer-focused strategy game. I hope we get it for the VC someday, but personally I wouldn't expect it to pop up any time soon.
I love M.U.L.E. It would be great to see it come out in some form.
M.U.L.E. is best described as a 4 player board game that has real time elements controlled by the computer.
All of the players are working together to colonize a planet. However, the players are also competing against each other to have the highest score, and ultimately win. If the players compete too much, and minimum conditions are not met, all players will lose at the end of the game.
The game is played over a number of turns. Each turn is divided into several phases. First, the players select a plot of land to purchase. Then each player has a timed turn to develop their plots and possibly hunt for the wumpus. Finally, there is an auction phase where players can buy and sell the various resources to the store and between themselves. The auction is done in real time, with all of the players participating simultaneously.
If you are a fan of the recent wave of boardgames like Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne, etc. you would probably enjoy M.U.L.E. as well. It truly feels like a boardgame/video game hybrid.
The major caveat with M.U.L.E. is that it really only plays well with all four players being actual live humans. Also, the Atari 800 version is the best version. please do not discuss emulation on the forums :3 -- TBD
Maybe someone will copy the formula, improve on it, rename it and sell it. It worked for Street Fighter. I would be surprised if anyone under 25 has even heard of Karate Champ. They should do the same thing with Archon too. These games were classic for a reason.
