Just over a week left to add points, so remember to buy any games you want asap.

I was having difficulty downloading games over my internet connection, but I just connected my Wii to a mobile hotspot and it's working ok now. So far I've bought Hydroventure, MotoHeroz, MaBoShi's Arcade, Lilt Line, and Tomena Sanner. I don't want to spend too much in one go so I'll probably only get another one or two games, but it's a shame to miss out on so many good ones. Hopefully some of the developers will port the games to Switch or other modern consoles, otherwise there'll be no (legal) way to play them any more. I know there were rumours of Konami's ReBirth games coming to Switch, which I hope turns out to be true.

Edit: Also bought Art Style: light trax, and I've got 900 points left in my account which I think I'll spend on Pulseman (a Mega Drive platformer by pre-Pokémon Game Freak, for those who don't know). Not sure yet if I'll buy any others.

@Dogorilla Wouldn't worry too much about missing out on certain titles: years from now, you will still be able to grab copies of those games from the web in WAD file format, which will allow you to install them on a softmodded Wii or Wii U.

Pulseman's pretty good. So is Light Trax. I'm sure you're already aware, but on the off-chance you are not, it was a Sega Channel exclusive, here in the States. I don't know if it got a cart release in Japan, Europe, or not. I used to know. Stage selecting is like Mega Man, as you can choose. My only gripes about Pulseman were/are the surrounding/environment graphics of some levels are either busier than they should be, made worse by serious flashing, & color contrasts, & some just are too hard on the eyes, due to, as I said, extremely bright color contrasts. Oh yes, & the music is good, but sometimes the music, & sound fxs are very irritating, regardless of sound quality.

By the way, Pm's another Genesis/MD game that during gameplay, some sounds(such as voice samples) are muffled, to the point it is misheard, whereas in the actual sound test, it sounds clearer, even if you replicate the in-game action sounds. I can't remember which is was, but I know there was another MD game that does the same thing. During gameplay, it sounds like PM shouts an expletive. This is obviously not the case.

Sorry for the long post.

@ThanosReXXX That's true, but I generally prefer not to mod my consoles. I might consider it at some point in the future though if I really want to play a WiiWare game I missed out on.

@Capt_N Thanks for the info! I'm pretty sure it got a cart release in Japan, but its only release here in Europe is the Wii VC version as far as I know.

@Dogorilla I can understand that. I do actually have the same mindset in general, but I ultimately decided to go ahead and softmod my Wii, after it was past the warranty period. It's the only console I have ever modded, and I also chose to do it because it's a softmod, that requires no soldering or hardware additions, and it's completely reversible if I would choose to reset the console to its original settings.

But the benefits from modding it are humongous: it's now my ultimate retro box, with next to every video gaming system known to man included. Besides a hard drive full of my Wii games and GameCube games, I've got NES, SNES, GB/GBC, GBA, Atari2600, Colecovision, Sega Megadrive/Genesis, TurboGrfx16, Neo Geo and N64 on there, all working pretty darn smooth. It even emulates the PSX with only minor faults here and there. Most of these systems are of course only interesting to older gamers, or retro enthusiasts, but still. Even running your Wii and GameCube games from a hard drive alone is worth considering it.

And another special thing that it offers, and that you would literally NEVER be able to run on a home console, is that the soft mod also allows for Triforce Arcade compatibility. Triforce Arcade games are the special games that were made for the Triforce Arcade board by Nintendo, in cooperation with Sega and Namco, which were obviously never meant for anything else than an arcade cabinet. I've got all 5 games made for it during the GameCube/Wii era, and they're really great games.

@ThanosReXXX That's pretty impressive, I didn't realise there were that many systems that could run on it. As I said I'll leave my Wii as it is for now, but I'll keep that in mind for the future.

@Dogorilla: You're welcome! I'm also of the same mindset as you, & ThanosReXXX. I'm not really a fan of modding my own console. Years ago, my Wii disc drive broke from an accident. I once attempted to "crack it open"(not literally), to fix it. I only got so far, but I ultimately wasn't prepared properly. The nice thing about the Wii, is that it can be mostly hands-off modding. Still, there's just something about having an un-touched console. In my case, it kinda is touched.

@Dogorilla Yeah, the Wii is actually a pretty versatile box. I see I even forgot to mention two of my favorite systems: the MSX and Commodore Amiga home computers are also installed on my Wii.

As a reminder to anyone who hasn't got all the games they want yet, there's just one day left to add points.

I'm almost ashamed of myself for how much points I added...

I haven't had the desire to add anything. I figured that I could play any VC title on an emulator if I had the desire to play them. And I still have 500 points left, just in case...

@ThanosReXXX I haven't really tinkered with any console in the past, but is it easy to soft mod the Wii? It's something I can look into if I ever wanted to play some WiiWare exclusive titles in the future. That way I don't have to worry about buying any of the exclusive titles right now. Chances are I won't play most of them anyway.

ThanosReXXX

@Octane It's super easy, and if you follow all the steps exactly as they are written, the Wii will be fully modded/jailbroken within the space of 20 minutes. And then the fun of adding your own taste in emulators and Wiiware begins...

Just Google "Softmod any Wii" and/or "Wii Letterbomb". Look for results on trusted mod forums like gbatemp or reddit. And make sure you know the firmware version of your Wii, which can be found in the settings menu, and will show up on the upper right side of the screen.

And if you're not sure if you can follow a guide on your own, there's always dozens of YouTube videos that show you all the steps as well, so you could look at a couple of those too.

I just want Mix Superstar to be ported to Switch. I'd kill for a physical release with all of the DLC included.

I added a final 1000 points. That's it. No more.

I'm not even gonna spend them right now.

I have a long time to use them.

I have 1500 points left and I'm torn on what to spend it on. Since Hudson went under I assume those games are the least likely to get re-released, so Alien Crush Returns is definitely on my radar along with the Aquarium games, oddly. I already owned Star Soldier and Water Warfare way back in the day, and even played it online a bunch back at my moms house lol. I'm also interested in Muscle March just for it's party potential, and Warioware DIY. I already have both of the FF:CC games and Jett Rocket, any other interesting recommendations? I really like strategy, and turn based games.

@McGruber The (in my opinion) best game in that particular genre which is available on the Wii's eShop, is Military Madness: Nectaris.

Here's a trailer video and a quite honest, if in my opinion a little too harsh, review to give you an idea:

I personally had a lot of fun playing it, regardless of it not being able to do certain things that the reviewer mentioned. I'd safely recommend it to anyone that likes turn-based strategy games. (EDIT: And you most certainly CAN shoot down aircraft, so I think the reviewer overlooked some options and/or strengths of certain vehicles and troops. It is hard, though, but certainly not impossible. To me, that's just a challenge, and that's a positive thing, far as I'm concerned)

EDIT:
Other than that, I'd say take a look at the first page in this thread, where you will find me and some others recommend a bunch of games, some of which might interest you as well.

@ThanosReXXX I thought Nectaris got delisted? I had that title in the back of my mind when I was scouring the WiiWare games page by page and didn't see it.
