Well Wkipedia still says Kubos comes out today...is this true? If so that would make me feel alot better. And I don't think Wikipedia had a date set before. I looked at Wiki yesterday and it said TBA...what's going on?

It was updated late last night to be the 27th but I dunno why you trust this anyway. The only reason why I trusted it for Sudoku Student was because it had a source that confirmed it early-on.

Huh I figured since because it must of been updated around the same time as we heard what came out today, it would make sense. But otherwise, I never trust the dates on there.

Propping VC with shovelware ain't progress, we don't need a VC game every week, there is already tons of great VC games available, I see nothing to complain about, quality before quantity.

As I said elsewhere...

Lets say Nintendo have three crap games to put out before Super Smash Bros. gets released.

Would you rather have three crap games this week and super smash bros. next week (even though we all know, under the current circumstances, America is lucky to get a single game each week) or in four weeks with one crap game a week every week for three weeks and then Super Smash Bros after those games have been released?

Bass how many weeks did Uk have to wait for ssb with no vc?

Bass_X0

One and even then it was our only VC game in those two weeks. The practice of going consecutive weeks without a VC game is new to all of us.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

Adam

Personally, I don't care if we get all the best WiiWare games imaginable each and every week -- that's beside the point. VC is something different and shouldn't be directly compared. We like our VC, and this is a bit worrisome considering there are still a good few first-party games awaiting release, not to mention confirmed games like the two Final Fantasies.

Maybe Nintendo is just switching to a VC week and WW week pattern, and we'll get a big VC update the first week of each month? Purely random and hopeful speculation, but I would not mind such a turn of events. In fact, I might even prefer that just for the sake of seeing one big update on the VC like we used to see.

Come on, friends,
To the bear arcades again.

Knux

The questions is:why is Nintendo doing this? I really think that Nintendo is intending to pull the plug on the VC. This reminding me of Sony's horrible PSOne Classic support on the PlayStation Shop, until recently. But, I'm really hoping I'm wrong.

Don

For some reason Japan's VC is still alive and kicking with Final Fantasy IV scheduled to be released 8/4 and all 3 NES FF games already out. NOA should at least have released Smash Bros. or Final Fantasy I today

That's an interesting idea! Who knows, maybe it just might happen? We'll find out next update.

I would be more then glad if that happened, but I seriuosly doubt it. NOA sees the Virtual Console unprofitable, they only care about money when it comes to the VC.

Unprofitable? That's a joke, right?

Look, it comes down to this. Why NOT? Releasing a VC game requires a nothing amount of effort on the part of Nintendo. They just make whatever patches need to be made to the game's rom, do any licensing they need to take care of, and plop it up on the server. How hard is that?

I wouldn't mind the lack of VC support if Nintendo gave us other games to fill the time, but as it is right now I only own one game for the Wii. Everything else I either played and beat, or I just found not worth buying. Meanwhile I have about 18 VC games, most of which I love. Not only does this mean I could NEVER sell my Wii and get what its worth for it, but it also means that bad VC releases are to me like bad game releases in the store. Now they're releasing NOTHING? For me it's almost like saying "We've discontinued your console, no new games will be released."

Will I play Monkey Island? Quite possibly (My oldest friend from the DOS days) Will I still be upset that we aren't getting VC games? 'fraid so. Also, if you REALLY think they are out of good games to release that are worth Nintendo's time or money, ask yourself three questions. 1 - How much do you think it ACTUALLY costs to put a game up on the VC server? 2 - If they only put up games they think are financially viable, why are there so many bad games on the VC? 3 - If they're all there, where are Smash Bros., Mario Kart, Final Fantasy, Castlevania (Bloodlines or Rondo), Goemon, Dragon Quest(Warrior), or ANY of the other games licensed exclusively by Nintendo that haven't been released? Or for that matter, half of the best games from the SNES (yes, I know, alot of them are from Square or Enix)

Next week will be the line in the sand for me, unless they give us a darn good explanation.

Michi

Vendetta

I would think it better for NoA to release more of these games and not less during the summer months when school is out. As for pulling the plug on VC, I see nothing to warrant that suspicion. There are a lot of moving parts to end-of-lifing a service, and I see none in motion.

Vendetta

Michi

I don't see them pulling the plug either, I'm just saying that's how it feels when they release no games or release a lot of crap games. I lose confidence in my system and wonder if it's worth keeping. Except with this download service the way it is, I can't get rid of it without losing everything and losing a ton of money. So...yeah. A little frustrating. Goes back to playing DS

This isn't an argument...
Who's to say what Nintendo's release schedule is, but the assumption that they decide to put out three poor games before SSB, and then stick to that plan regardless of the recent VC updates, is nonsense.

Two weeks without a VC game, and you think NA will be lucky when we get a VC game?

@Sonicwhatever (the kid that had like 15lines in his signature before)
Truth be told, I haven't seen a more deranged comment here, than your unprofitable VC one.
Sorry but it was WAY out there.

blackknight77

Who is to say that Wii Ware will always be profitable. How many version of poker and sudoku can people own? Believe were not exactly having Mega Man 9/WOG quality titles every week.

"Quality over quantity." What makes you think we're going to get quality, either? The way Nintendo's been working lately, I wouldn't be surprised if we got nothing but Altered Beast next week! Shudder

As I said on the release announcement comment board, it's more the lack of an EXPLANATION from Nintendo that's pissing me off than the lack of games itself. They need to speak up and tell us what's going on!

My Backloggery Updated sporadically. Got my important online ID's on there, anyway. :P

Licensing is a pretty big road block for lots of games.

18 VC games, why not explore your options some more, rather than complain about new games that are going to be lesser than many of the already released greatness?

What is a man?

Reala

As long as there is Hudson and Square-Enix as well as a host of indie developers making wiiware games, then I think its safe to say wiiware will remain profitable.

@Digiki-LOL, to start off, I'm not a kid. I'm 18 years old. If you don't believe my age, I can prove it to you. If I'm not mistaken, you are younger them me, right?

@Everybody-While some VC games are profitable, most of them are not that profitable. How come the top 20 VC games never change except ocassionally? The Top 20 VC games are usually first party games, they are a few third party games in the list sometimes.

@StuffGamer1-I agree, the least NOA can do is explain themselves. NOA does this without not explaining themselves.

Let's not forget the VC Arcade service, which has been almost dropped completely. NOA does things without explaining themselves, like Fatal Frame IV not being released in North America for no reason.
