Of course VC is dominated by first party titles its a Nintendo they are on and that is perfectly normal for Nintendo, just because a game isn't on the top 20 doesn't mean it makes a loss, if it did Nintendo would not support it, its a company not a charity.

Personally, I don't care if we get all the best WiiWare games imaginable each and every week -- that's beside the point. VC is something different and shouldn't be directly compared. We like our VC, and this is a bit worrisome considering there are still a good few first-party games awaiting release, not to mention confirmed games like the two Final Fantasies.

Maybe Nintendo is just switching to a VC week and WW week pattern, and we'll get a big VC update the first week of each month? Purely random and hopeful speculation, but I would not mind such a turn of events. In fact, I might even prefer that just for the sake of seeing one big update on the VC like we used to see.

Adam, from a business standpoint it is directly compared. Say you have 15 dollars. That's all you have to spend. Now lets go back to last week. FF game is released on Wiiware for 15 but they also release 3 VC games. No matter how you look at it, FF will be hurt sales wise in the initial week if just one of those VC games is deemed as big as FF. it's about stretching the dollar. Now, take away the VC and yea, a lot of people just won't make a purchase but the fence sitters will go for FF therefore increasing the sales. It's about not having direct competition when big titles are getting released. It's why you'll never see say, the Captain America movie released at the exact same time as The Avengers movie. Plus, NOA is probably trying to please Square and LucasArts by not releasing VC titles at the exact same time fairly big name games are released on WiiWare. It's buisiness, plain and simple. Is everyone going to like the Wiiware games? Absolutely not, but Nintendo's marketing knows they'll make more money pleasing the FF and Monkey Island fans than they would releasing a VC release. BTW, in my heart of hearts, I believe SSMB would NEVER be released in conjunction with a high profile WiiWare release.

Let's just hope that they are just waiting to put a huge update with about 20 games.
