I really just wished they added more characters. I mean what happened to Wario?
Here's my take on why Nintendo made the two other characters toads--all the other characters were taken, or just wouldn't work. Princess Peach is kidnapped in a castle somewhere, so obviously she wouldn't work. Wario has his own series of platformers now, so he's not going to be popping up in Mario's platformers. Waluigi wouldn't work because he's so darn tall--it would throw off the design of the whole game (sometimes he'd have an unfair advantage and would be able to reach areas other players could not, other times he wouldn't be able to fit in small spaces that the other players could). You can't have Shyguys or Koopas as added players, because they're already baddies in the game. Who's left? Toad.

If I say fail a bunch do I sound dumb too? Let us see.

The V8 Ninja Fail Analysis:
IGN Point: Hard to gush over a game that feels like a step backwards.
V8 Ninja Counterpoint: It's supposed to be a step backwards, you morons! It's trying to be old-school Mario with some helpful features and multiplayer, nothing more than that.
Ya Hi So like if the game isn't supposed to be much, why do people want it so much, and why do you dislike the score?
IGN Point: Missed opportunity that game is not online multiplayer.
V8 Ninja Counterpoint: Now, with almost any other game genre, I can see this to be a bit true, but NSMBW is a PLATFORMER. Platforming games aren't usually meant to be multiplayer. Most hardcore video game players will just play this game by themselves. And for the casual players, they aren't going to try to mess with the friend codes if there were any, so it was a good choice for Nintendo to focus on the levels instead of some a almost useless online multiplayer.
Ya Hi Most platforming games aren't meant to multiplayer, this one is, so why not include online? IGN had a great point any other high-level company would include online. If there's an emphasis on multiplayer, there's no reason for it not to have online play.
IGN Point: No personal play recording feature.
V8 Ninja Counterpoint: While I do agree that this feature would've been cool, most people that are planning to do speedruns/cool techniques ALREADY HAVE recording software.
Ya Hi IGN stated that since Nintendo used a recording feature to make the super guide and such, they could've easily made it available to the player. Your statement is a (wrong) assumption, and the recording software isn't saved right to the Wii, or accessible from the game.
IGN Point: The game plays it safe.
V8 Ninja Counterpoint: How the %@$! is this game playing it safe?! It's trying to be a good platforming game that has no single player gimmick whatsoever. That's something that's extremely hard to pull off, and by what you guys have already said, it has succeeded, so stop being hypocritical little pains in the @$$!!!
Ya Hi "It's supposed to be a step backwards, you morons! It's trying to be old-school Mario with some helpful features and multiplayer, nothing more than that." Does that answer your question? Also in the review he stated how they played it safe, maybe if you kept there points in context you wouldn't have made a fool of yourself.
IGN Final Point: They say that it's really good Mario game, one of the best Mario platformers, and better than NSMB DS, but ultimately give the game a 8.9.
V8 Ninja Final Counterpoint: Last time I checked, NSMB DS got a 9.5 or above, as well as the Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World. And also pretty sure that every other Mario platformer has gotten a 9.0 and above as well. This will probably go down in history as one of the many epic "Fail-alities" of IGN.
Ya Hi Just because a Wii game is better than a DS game doesn't mean it deserves a higher score. As a general rule, games are compared against their competition. For a 2D platformer that plays it safe, while remaining worse than it's 8 and 16-bit predecessors, an 8.9 sounds pretty high. (NSMB was terribly overated though, twas pretty average through and through)
The Epic Fail Count: Considering that they did give the game an almost 9.0, I'll have to call this an "Airplane Fail" for now. Now enjoy one of the many fail pics of the internet.
Ya Hi Considering I haven't said fail yet, I think I'll choose not to do so in excess, since I prefer not to sound like a joke.
@ Kid A Err, Princess Peach did not NEED to be captured. They well could have used her and Daisy and come up with, you know, a new story. Would have worked very nicely, too. It'd avoid the obvious sexism in the games, she's done it before (SMB2,Super Princess Peach), and she and Daisy work as palette swaps just as Mario and Luigi do, so it'd give the character roster a sense of parallelism without abandoning all shreds of personality like they had to with the generic Toads.
@ Digiki Good to know I'm not the only one who thinks it.

Here's the truth people: I'm stupid. I'm one of those people that doesn't know how stupid the thing they're doing is until it's already done. I'm also a bit of a Nintendo dork. So, combining those two together, I'm basically what the word "fanboy" is. So can I be forgiven for being extremely stupid?
EDIT: Why do I always get "weirdadam" whenever I quote Adam? This really needs to be answered.

Yeah, kinda weird. Daisy woulda been cool, but it doesn't bother me. Hey! We should have had the Toad from Galaxy. You know, the leader of the Toad Brigade. Strap a flashlight 'round the head of one of the toads, or give one of 'em glasses, and that small cosmetic change would have prevented this wildfire! =D
And then, ooh! Here's something. Remember how the yellow toad kept falling asleep? The player who has the yellow toad would constantly have to shake the Wii Remote to wake him up! =)

@ V8 You're not stupid. Using (and overusing) internet memes, especially that one, just aren't really an indication to the contrary. Being dumb and sounding dumb are quite different. We all have our moments.
@ Kid A Well, whining about it is one thing. I don't care enough about something so minute as to whine about it. But it is a legitimate grievance if criticized unwhiningly. It's not like the Mushroom Kingdom is lacking for characters, two of whom I've named. And I'm personally tired of the helpless woman carried off by the inept bad guy stereotype. Nintendo has strong female characters, but aside from Samus they seem to like ignoring their potential.
Just...never listen to IGN, for some reason they're always (well...most of the time) giving Wii games grades they don't deserve.
Come on man, they aren't just a Nintendo company, and they also dont give Perfect scores to all 360, PS3 games. Heck, they didn't give Uncharted 2 a perfect score and it dang deserves every bit of a perfect score. Just because you dont agree with a review doesnt mean the company is a sell out for a company.
