@Odnetnin Well, I think 330 is right. I do remember looking it up in-game. There's a page where you can check all of the achievments, and I seem to remember it being around 330 to 333.

Have any of you let any non-gamers play? I let my little sister play and she really loved it. She doesn't like fighting things in games so the fact that 99% of fights are not needed to do is really good for her. I think this is one of the few Wii games able to draw in both casual and "hard core" gamers, a fact that most people will overlook.

Ugh... The last boss would be an absolute pain if you don't get at least half the fights in the world, to get health ups that is.
I can't remember if I asked this question in another thread (old fogey anyone?) but does this game play anything like Kingdom Hearts with regards to character movement, attacking, anything? I sure wish they'd have some sort of downloadable demo for Wii games...
@Kid_A: No, it isn't really an open sandbox world; it is more like the world of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The game starts off pretty linear but eventually it opens up and gives you the freedom to explore and progress at your own leisure. You are guided by the story via cut-scenes to your next destination but you are free to spend time messing around earning medals for doing various things if you choose to do so.
Sounds like a blast. It just might be my next purchase.
Bud, it's a great game! I have played through it once and the second time I am finding new things and I am understanding the story better. The first time through I really was bit lost.
Vegeta: Just...just...transform damn you... Bulma: We are going to have a penthouse sweet...and he'll drive a corvet...and we will make love every single... Zarbon: (transforms) Bulma: KILL IT WITH FIRE!

Well, I would say that the movement in the game is similar-ish to Kingdom Hearts in the sense that you can move about the enemies while they're attacking. However, you can't jump anytime you want. There are special spots where you can leap to ledges and platforms. Also, the combat is completely different than Kingdom Hearts. You basically grab enemies and then use them to attack. There's not a lot of NPC interaction compared to Kingdom Hearts.
All of the stuff happens in real-time, though, if that's more-or-less what you meant.

Thanks Trevor. I'm always on the lookout for some Kingdom-Heartish-playing/looking-games and thought this one looked close. Thanks for the clarification.
Yes, 330 completely optional Medals, some of which have Bronze, Silver, and Gold versions requiring repetition to upgrade. I'm a completionist-type person who just HAS to get them all, even if they're a pain in the butt! The Gold medal for catching rare fish in the Lett Highlands was SO annoying! And there will be more like it later in the game...what joy. Oh, well...at least the satisfaction of finally succeeding is good!
EDIT: Oh, and some other medals are worth earning simply because they're connected to in-game occurances with comedic value. Dang, the dog monsters pissed on me! Ooh, a medal! Hey, this dude living in the well has an entire side story that earns a medal! The system helps you to explore and see all there is to see in the game. Ignore it, and you're missing out!
Possibly a dumb question, but i can't seem to beat the beach bunny competition at Costa Faguita. Am i missing something?
What I did was keep my pointer positioned in the top left portion of the screen (except for when I had to save Belle) and hold down the grab button. Whenever a ball flew by, I'd snatch it up and beat the other girl in the head with it. This would cause her to fall off balance. Then I'd just keep tugging on her till she fell in. I heard that you can also distract the moogle referee.

I agree. In fact the optional stuff (medals, mini-games, etc.) is probably my favorite part of the game. I can't figure out to get the poor guy out of the well though, lol.
@ReZon: I think we can all agree that this has to be one of THE most polarizing games of all time. Sadly, it seems that the majority of reviewers just don't understand it AT ALL.
@Odnetnin: You're not supposed to get him out, actually. Just go down to him, talk to him, then tug on the rope. Then you leave (walking through the door at the far end of the vineyard is far enough) and come back, repeating the process. It's about five times total, with each tug resulting in something different being dropped down to him that advances the story.
My Backloggery Updated sporadically. Got my important online ID's on there, anyway. :P
THat part was funny. =D I didn't make it far enough forward in time and ended up dancin' with an ugly old Lilty woman than one of the pretty ones. =P Make sure you play the game again after you beat it. They add in some stuff that you'll understand once you've beaten the game. =)
