My GameStop already had a used copy of this game...it was traded in a lousy THREE days after release. Naturally, I grabbed it. Haven't tried it yet, but I plan to do so tomorrow and post my thoughts.

Hope you enjoy it. I know I did. It's one of those games where the farther along you get within the game, the more you enjoy it. Especially getting towards the end. =)

Objection

I was really looking forward to this but hesitated on picking it up because of the reviews. Thanks for your eye-opening feedback, everyone, keep it coming and I will hopefully pick this up in the next month or so!

Yes, topic win. I was more or less to the point of ignoring the game before I became involved in this topic, but then I got excited for it. Not without reason, I should say...the game's pretty darned cool! Quite confusing, though...I'm hoping some of that will be cleared up when my guide arrives (Amazon pricing FTW! Only $12.23, list price $17.99).

As an added bonus, the previous owner didn't use the Square Enix Members code, so I still got to register the game! And with the used price and my stacked Edge and Employee discounts, the game will only cost me about $32.

Something of note: As I progress through the game the experience becomes more enjoyable, not less, and that is a key reason I have an affinity for it.

I wonder if anyone else shares this opinion?

I'm about 12 hours in, and I've got to say that the further along I get, the more I love it. Without posting any spoilers, I'm past the snow area, and I'm impressed more and more by what I'm seeing. I'm absolutely baffled at the low review scores at this point. Did the reviewers really play this far? It's hard to imagine that they did.

The reviewers most likely came at this game expecting something different than what it is and unwilling to accept it as it is. It's an unfortunate circumstance, but it does happen, sadly. It's up to us to spread the word that it's NOT a bad game! I'll be sure to let customers at GameStop know, whenever I actually have an opportunity (low hours just got lower now that Christmas is past).

**Sigh** this game keeps on getting pushed farther back on my to-get list. I'm getting Little King's Story next, but I do plan on getting this game! Esspecially after reading this thread

Oh yeah, I DID get this! Been playing it a lot since I got it. Beat it last night, in fact. I think it was a great ride and I'm going to be playing it for a long while to come.

Oh, and Layle is so my new favorite FF character.

I'm getting this game for my birthday tomorrow. After hearing everyone else's opinions I can't wait.

Should I just change this to the unofficial Final Fantasy Crystal Bearers thread?

Ah, I hearily approve of the title change. Only seems right, seeing as we're well past the IGN rant part of the thread.

I have now invested over five hours in the game. A lot of that was spent doing repetative tasks to earn medals (seriously...the repetition necessary to earn the Golds could've been toned down a bit), but I've been enjoying myself quite a lot overall. Matter of fact, even the repetitious stuff is more fun than most repetitious games, which is probably due to the unique nature of the game. Even when the repetitious activity is dull, the game manages to be visually endearing enough to make it worthwhile anyway. I refer specifically to collecting mail from the Mail Moogles. They're so CUUUUUUUTE!

Yes, it was time to change the name. But these gold medals--are they optional or do you have to do them?

The medals are optional. He's talking about the "Achievements" system that they put into this game. There's a lot of them. I can't remember the actual number right now, but it's up there. All completely optional.

Okay, it was 330? 330 sounded like a lot, so I thought it may have been 130. Good to know I was right and wrong. =P
