At least good enough to unlock Gunroar and Torus Trooper. Man, that game is hard, and no FAQ exists. Can anyone give me advice on doing well in Blast Works: Build, Trade, Destroy?

Whether you know it or not, Blast Works takes A LOT of strategy and reflexes. You have to know when to let your pieces out and when to bring them back in. Get good at that, and you can unlock the games... I still haven't been able to XD

Yeah, I really thought unlocking the original games would be easier! I've finished the first two stages, but the 3rd final one is a real challenge. I started working on my own stuff and downloading from others. I keep meaning to pick it up again (along with Boom Blox Bash Party, Little King's Story and others), but haven't gotten around to it!

When would be a good time to do this?

rookie mode isn't THAT hard but the other modes are frustratingly hard. rookie mode you just gotta learn the layout of the stages and try to pile on as much stuff as possible while also keeping track of where YOU actually are in the mess of attached stuff. you earn points each second for how much stuff you have attached so its a great way to earn extra lives. you will need them for the final level which can be annoying.

the bosses in general can seem to be overly hard even in rookie.

I really like the game but it seems like it can be kinda cheap and unfair at times especially on harder difficulties.

anyway i'd just download a save file with everything unlocked to save yourself a lot of frustration. playing kenta cho's games on the wii is a lot of fun

I will not sink that low. I am not a cheater. I don't use what the developers don't give me, so I wanna do this fair and square.

No, I mean when do I retract my pieces and when do I leave them out?

Well, each piece has its own health meter, so some ca take more hits than others. A good strategy (especially for bosses) is to retract them with a barrage of bullets are flying at you, and release the pieces in short bursts. It can take a while, but it gets the job done. In levels, though, sometimes it can get to where you have so many pieces, it won't really matter.

1. Problem is, by the time the bullets pass, another round comes by, so I have to keep my pieces retracted. Boss battles in BW are about as close as you can get to a horizontal Bullet Hell shooter.
2. Release in short bursts? What do you mean?

Farming for lives is an easy way to make enough progress to unlock all the bonus games. Every bullet that you and the pieces attatched to you fires increases your score, and when you have a huge number of ships attatched filling the screen with bullets your lives increase rather quickly. You just need to find a boss fight where you can hold down the fire button without hitting or getting hit by him. I think the best boss to do it against was level 2-2 (but I haven't played in a while so I might've gotten that wrong), you just need to hang out in the top right part of the screen and you'll be able to dodge all of his bullets easily while still firing with all your ships. You can only go up to 99 lives, but this should be enough to carry you through level 4 on Normal (which is all you need to unlock the bonus games).

Cool, thanks! I'll try that tomorrow.
