Topic: I just picked up Sonic Colors.

This is the first console Sonic game I've been compelled to buy since Heroes. After I heard how bad Sonic 06 was I just stopped caring. I never played Secret Rings or Unleashed either. Am I missing anything by skipping all the previous games? I heard how good Colors was supposed to be so I grabbed it up. Hope it doesn't dissapoint.

It's the best Sonic game I've played in a long time. Creative levels and a nice balance of speed and solid platforming and the powerups are used real well. The game is a bit short but still fun to play. You don't missing anything by skipping the past Sonic games.

Compared to previous Sonic 3D games, it does feel a bit slower but it's definitely much more polished. The game design is far better, there's more content and challenging level designs and the storyline's pretty silly (in a good way). Still getting used to Sonic's new voice. I'm like 40% done and I love it so far but I've been too busy to play for the passed two weeks.

Well here's an update on my thoughts of the game. It almost feels like another one of those retro revival type games. A return to form as they say. Just like how DKC returns and new super Mario bros Wii brought those franchises back to the old style. Sonic Colors feels very much like a modern version of the Genesis games. Good music, nice varied stages and none of those silly useless characters. I think this is the best Sonic's been since Sonic 3 and Knuckles. Bout Time Sega listened to us!

I love this game got it the first day it was released and have played it a bit about 50% done just been busy with a few other games as well.

It was in my hands at Toys R Us but I ended up getting Epic Mickey. I heard it was amazing. I'm glad to see Sonic back... I loved Sonic 4. I've always been a gigantic Sonic fan my whole life so this game will be next. The only reason I picked up Epic Mickey was because I've still been playing Sonic 4 and well, wanted something different.

I got it not too long after it's release. I loved nearly everything about it, then the frustrating levels started happening, haha. I swear, I got "Game Over" like 20 times throughout the whole time I've played that game whereas Mario Galaxy 2 (I never completely finished the 1st one) after beating the whole game, I only got "Game Over" like once I think.

I actually got so frustrated with it that I bought Kirby's Epic Yarn and took a break from it. When I beat the initial storyline of Kirby's Epic Yarn (which I so thoroughly enjoyed), I went back and finished the initial storyline of Sonic Colors. I'll tweak on those games later when I'm done with Okami (finally decided to play it) and I might even get De Blob (since only $11 at Gamestop :3).

Anyways, I still love Sonic Colors and I haven't played any Sonic games since Sonic Adventure (played the 2nd one and Heroes but I played Sonic Adventure more recently) and yeah, Sonic Colors is the best 3D Sonic game so far. It's funny that the there are really hard levels but all the bosses in Sonic Colors are pretty damn easy.

Still need to pick this up. If it's a hard game that requires retries, all the better! It's just like the 16-bit games then.

So you basically run, jump, and do more running?

Well not exactly. There are a few moments where you have to solve some platforming puzzles to progress. It's not always a sraight run from left to right like the Genesis games. It does feel closer to them than any other console Sonic. Plus there are several 2-D stages in the sonic simulator.

I got this for my brother yesterday, and I haven't tried it myself yet, but I was watching him play and it looked really fun, surprisingly. The music reminded me a lot of the first Mario Galaxy, though.

It is set in space also and you do travel between planets, so the music has to match that also.

Platformers aren't for everyone.
