I was just curious since I know this was a sleeper title and not that many people could actually find a copy. With the hopeful soon release of the game on virtual console, I was wondering:

I picked up the cart a few years ago and think its great. I had only played Final Fantasy Tactics type SRPG's, including Ogre Battle for GBA, and after getting over the shock of it being nothing like those games, got into it... but like too many RPG's, never got TOO far and have put it off since I picked up the VC game and wanted to play them in order... but OB64 is so much nicer to look at. I'm gonna go play it right now. If it shows up on the VC it will be a steal for 1000 points.

I'l be honest i haven't but as soon as i see it release it on VC, will purchased it and finally tried the awesomeness i have been hearing about over the years.
Never made it to here in Scotland, so it's one of the few translated N64 games that I've never played. It's not a genre I strongly care about, but should it be released on VC, it'll get downloaded pronto.
Nope. Never liked turn-based JRPGs and I never will.

I appreciate that, as I know many don't like those types of games. But I recommend you at least look at what kind of gameplay it is. It's extremely different than other JRPG's, so I wouldn't make that characterization and leave it at that.
@Steveman1 I'll look into it. Be back in about an hour.
EDIT: I'm back. I know it's only been ten minutes, but I've got the hang of what it is. It appears to be a game that focuses more on a "Planning the Invasion" part of some RPGs instead of the actual combat. However, I also don't like these sorts of RPGs. So you're realization/persuasion didn't work. Sorry?

@SuperToad: Story wise, yeah, they're both solid titles. Graphically/gameplay wise, in terms of time, story branches and choices, I'd have to say the 64 version is far superior. Just so many options.
@Bass XO: it's not your typical strategy game at all. If you got the hang of FF Tactics, this game will be right up your ally.
@V8 Ninja: I'd have to say it's not even that kind of RPG either. Because on the one hand, yes there is some pre-battle prep you do, it's all about the individual battles themselves. You control multiple units etc, order them where to go, win the battle, win the war. Not really trying to persuade you, just trying to get you to see that it's not something I'd categorize into one of the genres you've mentioned previously. I consider this a unique game.
I never played it, but when it gets released, I will definitely download it. I've always heard good things about it, and I do love a good strategy game.

I've played it to completion and to be honest, I wasn't all that impressed. First and foremost, it hasn't aged well. There are many better RPGs that exist in this day and age, and secondly, the RTS/RPG feel doesn't seem quite right in either regard. I know this game was groundbreaking when it launched, but it just doesn't hold up.
Edit: My post makes it seem like I'm calling it a bad game, by all means it's a good game but just not my cup of tea.
Started playing it a few days ago. I enjoyed it but now I'm starting to die more in battle. I have two zombies I don't know how to cure and I have no idea what equipment to purchase.
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
I've been playing the game on and off since It was released on Virtual console. I'm up to mission 8 and have really enjoyed it so far. The slightly bewildering array of options means there is certainly a learning curve. I found playing the tutorial helpful but it certainly didn't tell me everything. I'm slightly worried because I have carried out most of the fighting with only 2 out of the 7 units I have, which means those 2 are leveled up but the others aren't. I fear this may count against me later in the game. I'm also struggling with the changing of character classes, I know how to do it but I'm not sure if its worthwhile or not. Anyway, I'm really enjoying the game. I actually think it has aged reasonably well.
