Topic: How is Skyward Sword a Prequel to Ocarina of Time?

Okay how about some valid complaints? Because if it was that^ easy to list complaints about a game, Other M would sound like the anit-christ.

I listed some valid reasons. _Bwahahahaha

Lets just say I can list a lot of reasons why I dislike OoT. And you only have two reasons.... and that makes TP your least favorite? Damn.

Yep it only takes two reasons because I like all the rest so much! n_n Doesn't take much to be the worst.

I always seem to hear the same complaints about Twilight princess.
The one's I hear are....

The wolf sucks.
It's too easy.
The opening Tutorial and preparation takes too long.
They don't like the more mature style.
It's too similar to Ocarina of time.
The list goes on.

Okay first of all every Zelda excluding the two Nes games has a tutorial segment.
You never jump right into the first dungeon immediately.
Secondly how many Zelda games were extremely difficult? None that I recall.
Everyone complained about Wind Waker's kiddy look so they made Twilight Darker.
Now Skyward Sword's back to the cartoony style. Make up your mind people. Why can't we have both?
Zelda fans these days are getting worse than Sonic fans.

I liked TP, just wasn't too wild about it. Liked the Ganon fights though and the Rugrats music and when they clash swords.

I was going to point out all of the things wrong with this, but you guys seem to have it taken care of.

I dont know I guess its just all in the eye of the beholder so to speak. I dont like any of the too Link games cause of the graphic style. I dont think the games are good and I knew a few other people who dont like them either yet it just baffles me how Toon Link is more popular than say Link for TP or OoT. I understand that every person has their opinions but as I said I dont see how Toon Link can be so popular.

I recall Majora's Mask being really difficult. Oh wait it's because it is.

Did you not read my reply? He's in a lot of games that's why he's so popular. ~Whereas Link from TP isn't.~That and he's cartoony which kids LOVE. Half the people on this site are between the ages of 12-20.

2011 - 2003 = 8. 20 - 8 = 12. So a lot of people played Wind Waker as a kid and loved him. And now you can't say no one gave you a valid reason.

It is that easy, that pretty much covers the whole game right there. The music was boring, the grafix style was bland, the dungeons were easy, the bosses were all of the above. It couldn't compare in anyway to its predecessors.

There yah go.

I loved Twilight Princess, but it was my first Zelda game so maybe I am biased. I thought there was a lot of content in that one in terms of poe souls, pieces of heart, etc. Plus, I am playing OoT on my Wii right now, and Minda is way better than Navi. She never gives me any REAL advice, and she is SO ANNOYING. Not saying TP better, just pointing out one aspect, even if it's minor.

Ok now see I can understand that since Wind Waker introduced alot of people to the Zelda series I can see that, where as I was introduced to the earlier Zelda games. The first game that introduce you to a series always holds a special place in your heart.

THERE IS NO TIMELINE

Just because a few game publications liked it won't change my opinion on it and doesn't mean it deserves the praise from me for having:

• Controls like a 3rd party waggle-fest.
• Graphics (while good) that are so brown (outside of a few areas including the Temple of Time and Sky City) that it looks like Resistance threw up all over Hyrule.
• A story that tries to be dark and mature but ends up coming across as forced and cliched thanks to slow pacing and zero incentives to continue playing.
• Characters that are one-dimensional, forgettable, and who I personally could care less about saving or helping (bug girl, creepy baby-like shop owner, I honestly forget who were NPCs in TP worth remembering). There were no standouts that took the place of the Mask Salesman or the Sages or frankly any characters worth caring about in previous games. Even Tingle would have been better than any NPC in TP and I hate Tingle and his creepiness.
• Wolf gameplay that was slow, boring, too easy, and with that stupid sense mechanic that turned the entire screen black at points just to sniff around. All around poorly designed mechanic. I would say Okami should take a brown rage on this part of TP but that would just make the graphics more disgustingly colored.
• The Dominion Rod which was just awful to control on the Wii and fickle at times in the Temple.
• How useless many of your earlier items become later in the game, outside of the final boss fights (a problem with almost all Zelda games).
• Midna, while a nice attempt to give the "fairy" part of the game a twist just came across as a slave-driver. Bossy, annoying character, again one-dimensional solely focused on getting those shadow pieces. It made me wonder why I should even help someone who is just ordering me around.
• The recycled Ganon fight with Zelda firing arrows and blah blah... how many times do we need to play variations of this scene out?

Also, I liked Twilight Princess but I'm not going to fanboy out and not call it out for faults and bad game design at points. I was turned off by how bad the Wii controls were immediately. I played through the Wii version twice and it took me 5 months to finish it the 2nd time because I got so bored with it. That hasn't happened with any other Zelda game. Then I played the GCN version and bam, controls fixed, which reaffirmed to me that the Wii version was just a lazy port of an already mediocre Zelda game.

I gave up on the Zelda Timeline long ago, I now focus on the Super Mario Bros. one.

Super Mario Bros. -> Super Mario Bros. 2 -> Super Mario Bros. 3 -> Super Mario World (Super Mario Bros. 4 in Japan.)

It's pretty simple really...

Skyward Sword - I'm guessing it brings forth the Hyrule kingdom as we don't seem to have one in Skyward Sword, Link is not the Hero of Time and there is no princess, only your friend who happens to be Zelda. So far, there doesn't seem to be any mention of the Master Sword and no mention of Ganondorf but some Dark Lord.

Ocarina of Time - A great war arises and your mother brings you to the Kokiri Forest where you will learn you are from a Hyrulian background. You do not become the Hero of Time until you get the Ocarina of Time and the Master Sword which is quite early in the game anyway. This is also where we learn where Ganondorf comes from starting off the whole story as it were.

Also if we link both Twilight Princess along with Skyward Sword. There is a sky temple in TP, I believe it said about it being the home to the Hyrulian race because they were closer to the gods. In Skyward Sword, Link descends from a sky town or something like that, proving Link is a true Hyrulian. To prove it, look at the first bt of the trailer, flying sky town and the sky town in TP, although now in ruins. :3

@xDemon720x: I can make it even simpler than that, but with a possible SPOILER.

The sword that the Link in this game uses, called the Skyward Sword (geddit?) is the pre-Master Sword, which will evolve into said legendary sword at some point in the game. It's the origin story of the sword.

That, and it blatantly says "prequel to Ocarina of Time" in one of the OoT3D leaflets.
