Topic: How is Skyward Sword a Prequel to Ocarina of Time?

I was just wondering how because Link is an adult in the screenshots I've seen.

It's a different Link, and he is not the hero of time either.
I suppose he is an ancestor of the hero of time (oot link)

Is it about the war thing that made Link's mother bring him to the forest?

In each Legend of Zelda game you play as a different Link. While Link is still (sort of) one character, each game is a story about a different Link, with few exceptions (and I think the same applies for Zelda, but not Ganon). It's hard to explain, but pretty much this Link is the Link before OoT's Link. (Hope I got this correct) Make any sense?

Oh, like how Majora's Mask Link is the OoT one but Wind Waker isn't?

Nintendo says it's a prequel, so it's a prequel.

Seriously though, you'll just have to find out exactly how it's a prequel when you play the game.

Also, the Link in Phantom Hourglass is the same Link from Windwaker, just as the Link in Majora's Mask is the same Link from OoT.

Link and Zelda are descendants. (Mostly each game).

I think it's best for everyone to let this go so we can keep our sanity....

I think I might reserve my copy. I absolutely CANNOT wait for this game. Does anyone think it might end up being better than Ocarina of Time. Because that is my favorite game of all time.

@Link245 Well, yes, but if you mean how MM's Link is more realistic and WW's is "Toon" Link, then no. OK, I just remembered the correct word for this.
Incarnation.
So, each Link in the games is the same, but he just died (or so I would think) and then was reborn into a different time. Here's it from Wikipedia:
"Each Zelda storyline (normally) contains a different incarnation of Link, as whenever a new threat emerges in Hyrule, a new hero must arise."

I remember back when Ocarina of Time was supposed to be the first in the timeline.
What are they gonna do next? Make another game and say it's the prequel to skyward sword?

@Link79 Perhaps, but you do remember Shigeru Miyamoto saying that he will never reveal the document that has the Zelda timeline, because if he did they would not be able to add to the timeline/make more games? At least I think that's what he said...

The only Zeldas that I know its the same Links and Zeldas are as follows

The Legend of Zelda and Zelda II — Same Link and Zelda

A Link the the Past and Links Awakening — Same Link but a different Link from LoZ and Zelda II

OoT and Majore's Mask — Same Link but a different Link form the other games.

As for Ganon I belive it is the same Ganon since he has the Triforce of Power which make him immortal in a way. According to Zelda II: The Adventure of Link is for Ganon to come back all that needs to be done to have Ganon come back is to pour some of Link's blood on Ganon's ashes. So in theory all the "Cult of Ganon" would have to do is wait for the current Link to die get some of his blood and pour it on Ganon's Ashes and viola Ganon is back.

In away I kinda see Link and Ganon in a similar role like Gandalf and Sauron of LOTR. Each of them represents good and evil in Hyrule so in a sense Link is immortal and is back each time the world needs him.

I thought it was that in Skyward Sword, the Master Sword was created. So then that Master Sword appears in Ocarina of time, Majora's Mask, and all the other titles that happen after.

No they're not. The Toon Link in Spirit Tracks is a descendent of the Windwaker/PH Toon Link.

well for 1: zelda isnt a princess, 2: master sword isnt made

Maybe you have to actually make the Master Sword in this game! :3

Truthfully I dont really know where toon Link fits in since I could never get into those games cause of the god awful graphics.
