Like others, I'm sure, I consider Goldeneye for the N64 to be the best FPS of all time, certainly one of the top 10 N64 games, and a strong contender for best movie adaptation game. Naturally the thought of never seeing it on the VC has bummed me.

So lets say we could see this again, here's how I would do it.

First of all, re-release it as a new game, not VC, not WiiWare, but a new game on a disk and everything.

Keep it the same. Oh sure, make everything up to par for Wii graphics, but keep the levels, and weapons the same. Dont add onto perfection. Keep the campaign levels, with the unlockables and difficulty settings, even after I beat this game on the 64, I would constantly play through the Complex as stealthy as I could, or mow down enemies on the Train level. Great stress reliever.

Make it playable with all 3 control schemes, Wiimote and nun-chuck, Classic controller, and Gcube. The N64 really proved the FPS can work on the consoles, the Wiimote is the embodiment of that.

Here's the biggie, heres why you would buy this game again. Online play capable. Yes, by all means keep the 2-4 player Local, but make this game able to play online too. But because of the size of the arenas, keep it 2-6 maybe. Death matches, Man with the Golden Gun, Teams, its a gold mine.

A remake of this on the Wii would be a best seller in no time. Everyone remembers how great the Multiplayer was on this, but I think the Single player missions are often overlooked. This was probably one of the most filling, and balanced games. Especially by todays standards. All too often we're given a game with a Tacked on multiplayer to accompany the would be stellar Single player, or a mediocre SPG with a more robust multiplayer experience. Goldeneye took the best of both, we need more like that.

Great idea, this would make the world a better place!

Unfortunately, and I say this begrudgingly, Rare have the rights to the game and, as everyone knows, are owned by MS so this will never happen.

We can but hope...

The Xbox LIVE Arcade remake wasn't even released, so there's no chance of this at all.

(PS: Look at my avatar - I'm eating my GoldenEye.)

Yeah, unfortunately Goldeneye is a right mess of a copyright issue. It was launched on Nintendo's system by a company now owned by M$, AND the Bond license is with Activision now, not Rare. Too many people have a stake on that game's profit

It could happen, afterall Viva Pinata came to the DS.

The problem is, I assume this would need the stamp of approval from Microsoft. And I think it's safe to assume that won't happen any faster than they'll approve Banjo for Nintendo platforms.

They're all a bunch of idiots, as its a sure fire money maker. Release it on both systems... I doubt anyone would care. Either way everyone makes money! (Except for us... we will be buying it)

Actually, since they're releasing the new play control series or whatever from gamecube, imagine if they slipped in goldeneye (boner!)

Viva Pinata was released on DS because Microsoft don't make a competing handheld console.

I've dreamt about this, not at all fussed about the graphics, just online IR Goldeneye would be enough. I'm certain it will never happen though, surely?!

Let me say this if the next n64 vc release is a crappy game....I'm gonna shove my foot so far up CAMMIE'S behizzle that she will be throwing up souls!

Wii FC: 5412 0162 6187 3594
Brawl FC: 0517 4738 5514
Why do I want to bring back Pluto? Cuz the 8 others bullied it and I don't approve of bullying and I am here with this pointless movement to remind people of how (in)significant it really is!

On topic: I'd buy it. I don't have a working laptop, and N64 emulation probably isn't good enough.

Keep everything the same from the missions to the weapons, huh? Sounds like a great way to get sued.
