Topic: Dracula X Rondo of Blood better than rebirth.

Played on my friends japanese wii over the weekend. Castlevania rebirth is very good. So much going on and it has more in common with haunted castle arcade than any castlevania game. Really well done and I hope M2 do more.

On the other hand Rondo of Blood trust me. THIS IS THE GAME to own on virtual console. What a crime its taken so long to get it together. Best soundtrack in a game ever probably, wait till you hear the haunted ship music.

THIS IS THE GAME. So clinically made to perfection with excellent level designs and balanced difficulty. Also its full of secrets. Europe should be thankfull when they get it. Id rather it before rebirth. It would definately be one up on america.

I've wanted to play this game since I first heard about it, which was over 10 years ago. I'm sure it will be worth the wait

Rondo of Blood is an excellent game. I was able to play it years ago thanks to buying an import copy of the PC Engine CD game and buying MagicEngine to play it on my computer. Truly remarkable.

I refused to buy a PSP, even though the Rondo remake was available for it. My hope is with a US Wii VC release.

ReBirth was excellent in my opinion but nothing will come close to Rondo of Blood in terms of "traditional" Castlevania games. On that note I can definately see the influence of the latter on the former and that had a lot to do with how great it turned out. Can't wait till they finally bring the original Rondo over to the US though.

I eagerly await the day when I can make the comparison between the two. As soon as Rondo hits the US VC then I will start whining for Bloodlines

Hmm. I guess i'll finally have to play more than 2 minutes of Rondo (had only played just a taste of it, as i wasn't looking to attack a Castlevania game at the time). I always knew it was frequently lavished with praise, but never got around to playing it.

Rebirth is kind of lame by Castlevania standards, although quite good by not Castlevania standards...

I'd probably rate Rebirth smack in the middle of the "non-metroidvania" Castlevanias, myself. Kind of like Contra Rebirth, it is a good solid entry in its respective series.

So, Is Rondo coming to the US, or just Australia?

Both. It's been rated by the ESRB and OFLC.

I can't argue with that one. I love Bloodlines. Just to give you a little perspecitve, when Bloodlines was originally released it was panned by Gamepro (which I subscribed to at the time) for being inferior to Super Castlevania IV and removing the mutli-directional whipping. So I took the advice of the review and passed over Bloodlines until a friend of mine loaned me a copy at which point I thought the Gamepro reviewer was out of his mind for bashing Bloodlines. Eventually I bought a copy for the Genesis and now I play it on Gametap, but really I want it on the Virtual Console. Its really a terrific title and I love how each level is set in another country.

I've played Rebirth but not played Rondo of Blood. Its not hard to be a better Castlevania game than Rebirth. I'll be downloading Rondo of Blood as soon as it gets released.
